A joint experiment between the Ithorian Institute for Botanical Studies and the Nautolan Society, the Valakivir Aqua Nursery is a unique project in the Galaxy.

Following the massive exodus of Nautolans from their occupied planet, and the continuous efforts of the Nautolan Society to establish a peaceful colony in Valakivir, the project seeks to recreate the marine ecosystem of Glee Anselm with the upmost fidelity. The area has been encircled with a porous membrane to prevent predators from entering. Local algae and fish have been smuggled from the oceans of Glee Anselm and they have been released in their new home, where they are showing signs to be flourishing.

It is not, however, a project fueled by arrogance over nature, as it has a profound meaning for the local Nautolan immigrants. The Ocean Preserve, a piece of their homeworld in Valakivir, is the perfect spot for growing Euglen algae, from which young Nauto tadpoles are dependent. The refugee mothers use the lagoon as the ideal nursery for their offspring.

Nal Hutta and its moon, Nar Shaddaa, are located in the centre of Hutt Space and receive a constant traffic of freight haulers, smugglers, and other galactic traders. The planet is ruled by a council of the eldest members of the "Clans of the Ancients", the oldest Hutt families. The world's population consists of nearly seven billion inhabitants, three billion of them Hutts.

A bruised green, blue, and brown planet in the Y'Toub system, Nal Hutta (meaning "glorious jewel" in Huttese) is one of the primary planets settled by the Hutts after leaving their ancestral home of Varl. The planet's immense size is compensated by its extremely low density, giving it a tolerable gravity. Nal Hutta was once a pleasant world of mountainous rain forests. Since their arrival, however, the Hutts have transformed it into a gloomy planet of stinking bogs, stagnant, scum-covered puddles, and patches of sickly marsh grass inhabited by insects and spiders.

The planet's flocks of large, clumsy birds are shot down by swoop-riding hunters. The atmosphere is polluted by strip-mining operations in Nal Hutta's industrial centres, and a greasy rain drizzles down on the world's destitute inhabitants living in their squatters' villages and ghettos. Entertainment centres located near the Nal Hutta spaceport stand on stilts in the planet's swampy ground. The white palace of Durga the Hutt lies across from the spaceport, and features a swamp-water bathhouse and an infamous network of dungeons. Raw materials are continually strip-mined from Nal Hutta's surface and shipped to the Nar Shaddaa moon for processing and transport.

Many years ago, the planet was known as Evocar and was the homeworld of the primitive Evocii. When the Hutts arrived, they traded technology to the Evocii in exchange for land, eventually buying up the planet and forcing the Evocii from their homeworld. The Old Republic relocated the displaced Evocii to the Nar Shaddaa moon, but they fared no better there. Once the Hutts controlled the entire planet, they replaced all Evocii structures with Hutt palaces and shrines and renamed the world Nal Hutta. The planet's nearness to busy hyperspace lanes made it a popular trade world at the time, though the trade lanes have long since shifted.

In recent history, Nal Hutta and its moon have become a haven for smugglers, pirates, and criminals. Most notably, the Hutt Cartel and the Eidola pirates have been known to engage in multiple illicit operations, securing the status of the planet as a criminal haven.

The Clawdite are an alien race native to the planet Zolan.

Biology and Appearance
Clawdites, normal-sized humanoids who can change their appearance at will, are a genetic offshoot of the humanoid natives of Zolan, a planet found somewhere in the Mid Rim. Their development came about by accident, when scientists sought to trigger long-dormant skin-changing genes among the Zolanders to protect them from solar radiation. This event, which occurred centuries ago, triggered the divergence of the Clawdite species from the Zolander evolutionary line. Some rumours indicate that radioactive bombardment from outer space was the reason for the change in the Zolanders, rather than a failed experiment, resulting in the creation of this new race.

Clawdites are able to change the colour, texture, and shape of their skins, allowing a Clawdite to mimic the appearance of other humanoid species of the same general physical shape. This does not allow Clawdites to generate extra limbs or other appendages, but they are able to imitate the texture and patterns of skin-tight clothing. Shape shifting is a special skill that some Clawdites have developed to a greater degree, allowing them to change the length, colour, shape, and texture of their hair, as well as the coloration of their eyes. This fine control can even be used to alter specific portions of their body. It takes a good deal of patience and practice for the Clawdites to perform this change. Furthermore, it is an extremely uncomfortable process during which they must endure great pain to shift and maintain a shape other than their natural form. Expert shifters employ special therapeutic oils and meditative techniques to aid their transformations. Depending on the skill of the individual Clawdite, they might simply change their facial appearance or alter their entire body shape. The ability to alter their shape allows the Clawdites to blend in to enemy camps, where they could gather intelligence or commit crimes.

When they are at "rest," a Clawdite is indistinguishable from a regular Zolander.
Society and Culture
The native language of this species is known as Clawdite, consisting mainly of hissing sibilants and stressed, guttural croaks. They are a religious race, unlike their cousin species Zolander. Known Clawdites have long been ostracized from Zolander society, deemed sinful and impure, and forced to live in secured ghettos. This prejudice led to many conflicts between the two races, including several periods of civil war.

The Chiss are an alien race native to the planet Csilla.

Biology and Appearance
The Chiss are a race that very closely resemble humans, but there are significant differences between the two, most notably in outward appearance. Chiss have black hair and glowing red eyes while their skin colour ranges from pale to dark blue; it is believed that their coloration and the eye color is influenced by the level of oxygen in the environment. They also have an increased metabolic rate, which typically results in a very lean physique with well-defined musculature.

Society and Culture
The Chiss are known as being very deliberate and composed in their actions and their disciplined manner has been credited to their upbringing. In Chiss society a child's maturity is accelerated; they almost entirely bypass an adolescent period before being accepted as an adult. Chiss culture is largely based on customs and courtesies. For a time in their history there were Ruling Families, also called Ruling Houses. The number of these extended families would wax and wane depending on the governing needs of the time, and eventually faded from direct political power, but a legacy of social practices from their era still lingers. One such tradition is the elaborate welcoming ritual, in the form of colours and ceremony, that marks the visit of a member of a former Family into the domain of another.

Honour is very important to the Chiss race, and the actions of a Chiss are always subject to scrutiny. As such, the Chiss tend to be very formal and always considerate of how their actions can affect their Family and themselves. They are also very intelligent and often gifted in strategic thinking, as well as private and insular. The Chiss language is called Cheunh, but many also speak the trade languages including Basic.

Biology and Appearance
The Chevin have thick, wrinkeled gray skin that provides a thick hide of protection, and the ability to regulate their body temperature. The Chevin stand around 2.5 meters on two thick legs that support their bulky frames. They have large heads, which support a trunk that stretches down to the ground. This trunk allows the Chevin to forage for food while watching for predators.

Society and Culture
Despite their appearance, the Chevin are a technologically advanced, carnivorous species belonging to the pachydermal family. The species originated on Vinsoth, a world of rolling plains, with arctic polar regions, and few deserts. Their culture has forged the species into a greedy one. Chevins are infamous for their lust for money, power, and status. They will accomplish their goals by any means necessary. The Galaxy has come to see Chevin as gamblers, smugglers, blackmailers, and gun runners. They are also notorious as slavers for manipulating the humanoid race of Vinsoth, the Chevin.
Although the Chevin are capable of using weapons of destruction, they tend to let others do their dirty work, or just force their slaves to do it for them. Though technologically advanced, the Chevin did not research their technology. They acquired it from an unknown offworld source, and adapted it to their lifestyle and needs. As a migratory species, the Chevin once walked the plains of Vinsoth. Now with technology, most travel the world on large community platforms, similar to the Ithorians and their herdships. The destitute Chevin tend to employ ground vehicles with wheels, rather than the repulsorlifts that wealthier Chevin put to use. While the Chevin travel on the platforms, the slaves walk and are expected to keep up.

Biology and Appearance
Being small and nimble, the Chadra-Fan compensate in their spirit. These rodent like beings native to Chad IV have large ears, flat noses with four nostrils and have the ability to see into the infra-red range. They heavily rely on their sense of smell, even more since males and females project a pheromone aura, which can project extremes such as anger or fear. The larger of their four nostrils detects water-soluble odours, while the inner two nostrils contain specialized chemo-receptors.

Society and Culture
Their love for technological tinkering even surpasses their spirit. Every tidbit of technology in their reach usually gets disassembled and reassembled with high tendency of bizarre malfunctioning. Many droids, who have had the unfortunate circumstance of making the acquaintance of the Chadra-Fan, tend to have a pathological fear of them because of this bizarre trait.
Due to Chad IV's bizarre ecliptic orbit and humid weather, tidal waves of great strength are usual on the Chadra-Fan homeworld. In recent history, tidal waves that swept across the land destroyed almost everything that the Chadra-Fan community was building over many millennia. Due to these almost regular disasters, the Chadra-Fan sleep in swaying open-walled structures that hang from the trees high above the water.
Cereans are tall, gaunt humanoids with an enlarged skull that contains a very big brain. They are wise and perceptive race whose binary intellectual capabilities allow them to look at an issue from many different angles, and makes them excellent problem solvers.

Society and Culture
While they are renowned for their intellect, their capabilities as leaders in battle go almost unrecognized by scholars. They are docile by nature, but when confronted with life-or-death decisions, they become fierce and fearless individuals, inspiring these traits in those under them when leading a group in battle.

They are very ecologically-minded beings, as their homeworld of Cerea relies on a very fragile balance of flora and fauna to maintain its natural cycles and continue sustaining life. This oneness with nature has proven itself time and again as a quality that helps make them excellent survivors in nearly any planet's wilderness. Cereans throughout the galaxy have made names for themselves as excellent scholars due to their superior logic, excellent ability to retain knowledge, and innate problem-solving skills, making their intellects highly valued by educational institutions everywhere.
The Cathar are a race of feline-like, biped humanoids from Cathar, a planet of savannas and rough uplands. The Cathar have fur-covered bodies with thick manes. They have prominent, retractable claws that can deliver powerful killing attacks on foes and prey. Their bodies also possess rapid healing abilities. On average, Cathar are 1.5 to 1.9 meters tall. These traits make them the perfect hand-to-hand specialists.

Society and Culture
They are known for their loyalty, passion, and temper. Quick and powerful, they are considered great warriors and dedicated, efficient predators. Their females are prized as slaves, whereas the males are generally considered too uncontrollable for slavery.

On their homeworld, Cathar live in cities built into giant trees, and are organized into clans governed by "Elders." Stories of their great heroes are often carved into the trunks of these tree-homes for following generations to see. The Cathar mate for life, to the extent that when one mate dies, the survivor never has a relationship with another. Cathar clan society includes great pageants and celebrations, especially for their heroes. Their religion includes a ritual known as the "Blood Hunt," in which Cathar warriors individually engage in combat against entire nests of Kiltik in order to gain honor and purge themselves of inner darkness. The native language of the Cathar is Catharese, which includes the emphasis of some spoken words with a growl.
Biology and Appearance
The Bith are a race of pale-skinned aliens with large skulls and long, splayed fingers. Their ancestral origins are hard to discern, because their bodies contain no trace of anything but Bith information. They have evolved into a race which excels in abstract thinking, although they lack certain instinctual emotions like fear and passion. Their huge eyes lack eyelids because they have evolved past the need for sleep, and allow them to see in minute detail. The thumb and little fingers on each hand are opposable, and their mechanical abilities are known throughout the galaxy.

Society and Culture
They are native to the planet Clak`dor VII in the Mayagil system. They quickly developed advanced technologies, among them the use of deadly chemicals for warfare. A planetwide toxicological war between the cities of Nozho and Weogar - based on the disputed patent rights to a new stardrive - destroyed the once-beautiful planet, and left the Bith the choice of remaining bound there or expanding to the stars.

Immediate survivors were formed to build hermetically-sealed cities, although they quickly realized that it would better preserve their race to travel among the stars. Bith mating is a less than emotional experience, as the Bith race has lost the ability to procreate sexually. Instead, they bring genetic material to a Computer Mating Service for analysis against prospective mates. Bith children are created from genetic material from two parents, which is combined, fertilized, and incubated for a year.
