Moretti'ciri'nasso, known more commonly outside of Chiss space as Cirina Moretti, is a female Chiss from the planet Csilla. She formerly served in the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force and later Black Sun, and is currently Chief Executive Officer of Moretti Industries.
Moretti'ciri'nasso was born into the Moretti house to her father Moretti'visi'nasso and mother Moretti'tan'nasso. Born and raised in Csilla's capital city, Csaplar, Cirina's childhood mostly consisted of her education in one of Csaplar's finest academies and learning how to properly represent her family and culture. Her family, the Moretti house, were mostly involved in military matters in Chiss society, though some chose a more bureaucratic lifestyle instead. Her extended family contained everything from admirals to generals to politicians, and were all fiercely loyal to Chiss traditions and their way of life. As such, it was incredibly rare to find a Moretti who wasn't serving Chiss society in some manner. But whilst Cirina was of course expected to continue the family traditions of military command, she always wondered what it would be like to traverse the stars in the furthest reaches of space, and to meet the various strange and foreign beings that inhabited the rest of the galaxy. Her curiosity often drew the ire of her parents, but she followed her parents' wishes despite her own personal dreams.
She excelled in her studies during her time enrolled at Csaplar Academy, learning everything there was to know about the history of her people and how to best serve as a productive and effective member of Chiss society. Upon her graduation, at the encouragement of her parents and the rest of her family, Cirina enlisted in the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force.
Service in the CEDF
Her early military career was promising, as the young Chiss quickly found her feet and aced any challenges that were thrown in her direction. Most of her training occurred atop the icy wastelands of Csilla, though she was regularly sent to more exotic planets as well to diversify her training in a number of different environments. Once training was complete, Cirina was assigned to colony defense, wherein she was a part of the task force dedicated to protecting the Chiss people from hostile threats across their territories, such as pirates and raiders seeking to exploit and terrorize.
As time passed, Cirina's dreams of seeing more of the galaxy and the things it had to offer became harder to ignore. Such thoughts were a controversial topic for the typically isolationist Chiss people, but she nonetheless hoped that she could venture out into the unknown. She believed that the Chiss should exert themselves and take their place within the wider galactic community, and that in doing so they could educate other sentient races in the galaxy and teach them of the the mysterious culture of her people. In her mind, opening up diplomatically and culturally to other races would surely strengthen the Chiss, both economically, politically and socially. It was this belief that eventually led Cirina to ultimately depart the CEDF and leave Chiss Space, seeking to both learn about the other races and beings in known space, and to further the reputation and prestige of the Chiss by representing their values and culture to the rest of the galaxy. Her parents were initially hesitant to give Cirina their blessing to venture out towards the stars, but her determination and dedication to her newfound cause was enough for them to reluctantly agree, on the condition that she would eventually return to her home.
In Year 19, Cirina joined Black Sun, one of the galaxy's leading powers. She found herself attracted to the diversity present in the government's leadership, employees and citizens, who came from all manner of backgrounds and races and sated her desire for a change in scenery, as well as to learn more of the other people inhabiting the galaxy. It was here that she met her future wife, Amelia Moretti, who was a part of the Black Sun Family. Their relationship quickly bloomed, and soon enough the couple were engaged and married swiftly at Amelia's behest.
The couple were married in a small, traditional Kiffar wedding on Amelia's homeworld of Kiffex on Year 19, Day 223. The ceremony was attended by friends and family, and during the proceedings Cirina formally joined her wife's clan, Nah`utal. Shortly after, the newlyweds decided to begin a family, and through specialized genetic procedures Amelia was soon pregnant.
Following controversies surrounding her wife's retirement from a commanding role in the faction and ultimately full departure from Black Sun, a conflicted Cirina found herself uncertain about her future and safety given that Amelia would most likely have a warrant issued for her arrest. After much consideration, Cirina herself reluctantly resigned from the group.
Since departing from Black Sun, Cirina began to branch out and experience new things. Under the guidance of Amelia she took up hunting, mostly for sport, and also enjoyed indulging in her fascination for history by venturing out to distant systems in search of ancient artifacts and long-forgotten temples that gave a glimpse into what life was like in the galaxy's past. She attended the Sixth Uli Memorial Swap Meet with her wife, which was the first time Cirina had traveled to such an event and allowed the Chiss an opportunity to meet and mingle with the many other sentients present at the meet, as well as catch up with friends.
On Day 286 her wife Amelia started her own recycling business with Chrii'kkt Raas as part of the Galactica Group, called Raas-Moretti Industries. Cirina assisted her wife on occasion with her work, though tended to mostly keep to herself for the majority of her time. At the tail-end of Year 19, on Day 360, Cirina learnt that Amelia had been killed as part of a hostile takeover of RMI. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel and droids to save their unborn daughter, Vaina, she was born far too prematurely and did not survive. Utterly distraught by the deaths of both her wife and daughter, Cirina retreated into seclusion to grieve for her losses.
Cirina stands at around average height for a Chiss, measuring 1.7 meters. Weighing 59 kilograms, her build appears lean and spry, kept healthy and well-toned through frequent training. Her exercises prioritize cardio over muscular strength, as Cirina finds a nimbler build to be more beneficial and effective for her in combat situations. Her skin coloration is the blue typical of Chiss, the tone and shade shifting depending on the level of oxygen in her environment. Her crimson-tinted eyes are another trademark Chiss feature and, much like her skin, similar changes can occur to the color at different oxygen levels. Cirina's jet-black hair usually hangs just below her shoulders, though on occasion it has been seen to be either longer or shorter when the Chiss desires a change.
Cirina tends to keep much of her personal life private from the public eye. Recently reports of an affair with Amelia Kolczynski were confirmed despite her married status, and the pair publicly entered into a relationship. The couple were soon engaged, and their marriage lasted from Year 19, Day 223 until Amelia's death on Day 360.
Hobbies and Interests
Cirina takes great interest in subjects like history and culture, especially surrounding other species. Growing up with the isolationist Chiss only fueled the woman's desire to learn and experience the traditions of other races in the galaxy, whether it be through ancient artifacts and relics or studying the storied histories of the countless races and empires to have inhabited known space.
She is not known to be a heavy drinker, only indulging herself in the occasional glass of wine or spirits during social occasions. As such, it is not often that the Chiss is spotted around the galaxy's various nightclubs and taverns, preferring a quiet night in perusing a book to ostentatious events and boisterous music.
