Dear Emperor,

I have to admit it was with deep regret and sorrow that I read of the recent capture of your Executor by those tricky Eidola pirates. I balked at the thought of poor Lord Seele trapped behind bars and left to a terrible, tragic end. Aboard a Sprint, no less!

With your wide-reaching and inspiring influence over your Empire, sentients galaxy-wide agreed that you would never give into the outrageous demands of the pirate known as Syn. What a travesty that would be - the Galactic Empire forced to kneel before a single pirate. The mighty Emperor Ndengin would never stoop so low!

And then, you did. Perhaps your Empire is not as mighty as you would like the galaxy to believe.

Oh Emperor, you know how well the New Republic understands the situation that you were put in. In retrospect, if only we had been so desperate, as you were over the life of your Executor, that we would have begged, pleaded and groveled at your feet. Perhaps then one of my predecessors, Cheda Quche, would still be with us. But then, would I want to lead a government so terrified of the loss of a single individual? No, I'd much rather have known that my government was willing to confront difficult losses in the face of conflict, rather than cower from them. Which is, in fact, what we did, and we have only grown stronger in solidarity and resilience.

Choosing to save the life of your friend over all else, including your most prized technology, is indeed a noble gesture. Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on this crucial first step on your path toward the Light Side. Please know that we are always here to support you in that endeavour.
