Flask[1] was a taller-than-average, free-thinking Jawa — a gaunt, rodent-like creature with a shrunken face and yellow eyes. Circa Year 2, he was regarded as a notable member of the Jawa race.[2] Like other members of his repugnant species, he frequently wore a dirty, reddish-brown robe girded by an ammunition bandoleer. He was a pacifistic creature, but would defend himself when necessary. He was unusually fond of Gamorrean grog and, while a vagrant in Mos Eisley, fell hopelessly in love with a human female. After a brief stint as an unsuccessful trader on Tatooine, he became an alien soldier in the Galactic Empire during the reign of Emperor Piett. After graduating the Imperial Academy, he disappeared before events of the Second Imperial Civil War.

Biography

Born on the desert world of Tatooine, the early years of Flask's life were marked by hardship and hunger. It is believed that he was a scrap metal trader in the barren Jundland Wastes and led a hand-to-mouth existence. After being exiled by his Jawa clan, he migrated to the dangerous spaceport of Mos Eisley and became an overworked employee of Xyren's Rytorian Trading Company. During this time, he collected protection money from local businesses for Rahm Zarkov, a feared brigand. While collecting such money, Flask he was protected by a friendly yet dim-witted thug known as Griznakh the Gamorrean.

When he was not roaming the back alleys of Mos Eisley Spaceport, Flask was a frequent denizen of the Mos Eisley Cantina. While intermingling with patrons and guzzling Gamorrean grog, he fell in love with a dainty human female whose name he later forgot. When the female explained she only wanted to be friends, the Jawa was heartbroken and, to assuage his grief, he chose to depart Tatooine.

In the first quarter of Year 1, Flask applied to join the Imperial Army. At that time, the Galactic Empire was governed by Emperor Piett and permitted aliens to be employed in menial capacities. There were rumors that even a dim-witted Gamorrean, Hovstad Stockmann, had achieved the rank of lieutenant in the Imperial Army. As such, Flask was readily accepted by the Army and enrolled at the Imperial Academy. His instructor was Ranma and Flask graduated after several months of training.

Later during his tenure in the Empire, Flask became disillusioned with the Army and disappeared before the bloody chaos of the Second Imperial Civil War. Wild tales circulated that he joined the Red Moon Mercenaries or had a life-energy transfer somewhere in the Outer Rim, but these stories have never been substantiated.
