The Science Feud was an event involving two enemy scientific research groups: the GenSci Institute and the Twilight Foundation. Both groups spread their volunteers in the galaxy to raise public awareness on their aims and collecting funds. Many galactic citizens decided to support one group of another, and of course they became unpopular with each other.

What initially seemed to be a simple request to support one's cause, later it became apparent that stiff competition took over, up to the point of having both sides spying on each other. Four main stages in this "conflict" can be observed.

Firstly, the group volunteers were sent to neutral planets - and later to any starport - in order to ask for support in different ways. GenSci was crowdfunding for 500 million credits, Twilight was looking for 300 Acklay Claw trophies. The latter changed its target soon after, accepting a wide variety of trophies, at varying different values, and raising the threshold to 1000 units. It must be said that daily limits on donations were set, and although many believed that collecting a number of trophies was more difficult than giving cash, the Twilight supporters filled the gap more quickly and managed to reach their quota before the GenSci supporters.

After reaching the initial target, the supporters were led to visit their group's headquarters. However, due to general mistrust, the HQ location was disclosed only to the supporters who donated the most; this minority had to pass the information down to the rest of the supporters. Once arrived at the HQ, people were given a datapad and instructions to infiltrate the other group's HQ to steal valuable information. The first 50 individuals who completed the mission were rewarded with a brand new military droid: the R0-L0 Tank Droid for GenSci and the BN-D0 Assassin Droid for Twilight.

The third stage can be marked by the search and activation of a number of droids hidden all over the galaxy on neutral planets. Activating the droids would give a Jawa Ionisation Blaster and a Restraining Bolt, which were to be used in the next stage.
Knightcrawler, Ling Reen and a couple of others managed the coordination of the Twilight group's members over the holonet.

The last stage was capturing or destroying all activated droids belonging to the other group.

The feud was eventually won by Twilight Foundation. The result was that the Twilight Assassin droid is now available to production and the GenSci tank droid can now be found in bandit groups.

Twilight had a huge advantage in the number of members and thus was able to complete each phase before GenSci was able to do it. Also, in the Twilight group the members communicated very actively with each other to achieve the certain goals.

The NR called this event "Operation Monochrome."

to donate a Streaked Velker trophy. The trophy counted as 5 parts of the 300, the progress is at 22 parts right now. starting the quest (first donation) gives 500 xp.

To add to the list of creature parts credit value: Rancor Tooth: 2 Katarn Skull: 1 Reek Horn: 1 Howlrunner Skull: 0,5 Nerf Horn: 0,5 Gundark Ear: 0,5 Squall Tail: 0,1 Eye-snatcher eye: 0,1 Quizzer Dorsal: 0,1 Boma Tusk: 0,1 Geejaw Beak: 0,1 Crystal Snake Venom: 0,1 Physallis Berry: 0,1 Gizka leg: 0,1

Volunteer NPCs have moved. You may now find them at the entrance room of ANY starport in the galaxy.

The whole Twilight team needed at least 1000 points to proceed to stage 2, now we have to head to the HQ to participate in the next stage. If you started the event by donating the first time you can now try to find the HQ in stage 2.

Donating more trophies yourself only helps to get a more accurate destination from the NPCs when you talk to them, but the thresholds are relatively high. I donated 30 points and get no destination at all. I read somewhere that you probably need 50 points to get at least the sector name and 100 points for the most detailed coords. Seems like TR, TC and Invid have joined forces working on this and know the exact location of the Twilight HQ.

Twilight Foundation has secured a victory for part one. All four phases are now completed. Active droids will still be available for capture and you all can claim your rewards soon.

Tomorrow morning Combine time you can start visiting your Droid commanders inside starports to claim end-of-quest rewards. Both sides can do this.

Galactic Rewards and Impact: Also starting tomorrow morning Combine time you will see a new generic DC available for purchase plus a new enemy will appear in bandit squads for you to loot.

A GNS will be posted tonight featuring story end game and show you next steps for Part two.

Edit: if you spoke to npc and did not get a reward, it will be provided soon.

GenSci (Baby blenderers) and Twilight (Sparkly buggers)

R&D IV "GenSci Institute HQ" (??, ??)

Go to Twilight HQ at (136, -32) in-system (10, 13); enter the command room and get the Datapad needed to steal the intel. Travel to the GenSci HQ at (45, 71) and steal their intel. Return to the Twilight HQ.

The Feud Begins! (Posted by Baugrems on Year 18 Day 260 2:27)

Two new GNS posts have gone up in case you missed them. Start donating to your team!

Volunteers can be found in any Starport in the galaxy.

Edit: Twilight has reached phase two! GenSci is in a panic and has hired more accountants to process more donations per day. Get those credits in to catch up!

Edit2: GenSci has also reached phase two now. New hints added for both sides. Talk to a volunteer.

UPDATE: Y18 D269 16:56 It is no longer strictly necessary to donate in order to support a side (it will net you 500XP though). You can join in directly at GenSci or Twilight's HQs, if you convince a friendly member of GenSci or Twilight to reveal the location. Onboard their HQ you can talk to an NPC who will allow you to become either a Twilight Supporter or GenSci Supporter and join in on what's known as "Phase 2", without having to donate.

Report any bugs to Kay Dallben and Baugrems.

The Feud Continues... Phases 3 and 4 (Posted by Baugrems on Year 18 Day 274 23:19)

Hey Everyone!

Both teams have been pushing hard and now it is time for phase 3! That said it is time for some DETAILS.

Phase 3: Every civic center in the galaxy has a droid commander that will give you some equipment and instructions. Every DARKNESS or QUEST planet has at least 12 droids on it. You can speak to them as if they were an NPC.

Twilight: Activate your BN-D0 Assassins and deactivate the GenSci R0-L0 Tank Droids.

GenSci: Activate your R0-L0 Tank Droids and deactive the Twilight Assassins.

In total I have placed 500 droids in the galaxy.

Phase 4: Once enough (number not public) droids have been activated both teams will enter phase 4. This is the combat phase. Kill enemy droids but leave your own side's droids alone! Capture or kill until they are all taken care of around the galaxy. First side to conquer all active enemy droids wins.

"WHAT DO WE WIN?!"

Stuff. Though I will say prizes are more of a galactic scale than individual scale. Even if you didn't participate you might see some of the results.

Edit: Added Commanders to Starports. Both teams on phase 3. No more phase 2 rewards available.

Phase 4 of the Feud (Posted by Baugrems on Year 18 Day 284 14:10)

Both teams are now in the final phase. Destroy enemy droids (or your own if you hate winning) and finish it up! Capture or Destroy!

there is only one objective to Phase 4: 1) Destroy or Disable all of the active droids of the other side before your side's active droids are destroyed.

Winner of thise Phase will be winning team. Rewards are ready to go..

There are droids on all Darkness owned planets except for Derra, Serrocco and the one discovered after the event started.
On all planets are at least six Assassin and six Tank droids.
On a few planets are more than those twelve droids to get to the mentioned total quantity of 500.
Droids can be anywhere on the planet, except for terrains that are listed as restricted for the droids (any water type, swamp, mountain and volcanic)
   Droids are not inside facilities
All droids on a planet are grouped together on one single ground coord.
Droids have to be in sensor range to show up on the map or scanners.
In phase 4 all droids of the other team have to be eliminated.
Droids in phase 4 can be destroyed with normal weapons or disabled and captured with ion weapons and stun bolts.
One single ion blaster and stun bolt can be acquired if you talk to the Droid Commander NPC of your team in any Civic Center or Starport in the whole galaxy.

the "we have droids for everyone" in the GNS was a lie, they had 50 to complete phase 2.

talked to a Droid commander in a starport and get a "You finishedthe science feud quest. Good work."

BN-D0 Assassin Droid = Twilight; R0-L0 Tank Droid = GenSci

Total number of unique people who gained a Datapad: 351 NOTE: You could do this either at the HQ, OR at the Droid Commanders initially at Civic Centres or later at Starports, too.

With 386 donators

Twilight Droids Activated in Phase 3 (at time of conversion to Phase 4): 138 GenSci Droids Activated in Phase 3 (at time of conversion to Phase 4): 67

Phase4: Total Unique Players who Killed or Disabled at least 1 droid from either side: 64 Total Unique Players who killed or Disabled at least 1 Twilight Droid: 23 Total Unique Players who killed or Disabled at least 1 Gensci Droid: 41 Number of people who killed or disabled at least 1 Twilight Droid AND at least one GenSci Droid: 12

Highest # Twilight Droids killed or Disabled by a single person: 11 Highest # GenSci Droids killed or Disabled by a single person: 8 --- I'll have to get Baugy to double check this, but it looks like 201 droids total were either Disabled or Killed (leaving 4 Twilight Droids still miraculously alive somewhere?), and 161 of those 201 were Disabled. I don't have the number of those that were successfully captured after they were disabled. The neutral droids, being part of a bug, were not counted, and do not appear in the statistics. I think the Highest number of droids activated or deactivated (IE Someone had touched them) at any given point was in the 360 range.

  • Day 260 :: GenSci accuses the Twilight Foundation of the experiments that went wrong causing the Derra Virus
  • Y18D261 11:41 Both GenSci and Twilight Volunteers will now accept a limited number of credits and trophies per person, per day.
  • Day 287 :: Twilight Foundation was victorious in their battle against GenSci
