Jalen's Journey

Origins

The human male named Jalen Kobar was assumed to have been born sometime during the transitional period that marked the galaxy-wide transformation of the Republic into the Empire.

A Fresh Sunrise

Jalen from his earliest records started his life on the planet Tatooine. At first, he was taken in by the staff of a local orphanage as a quiet baby in a mere blanket with his name scribbled on a worn piece of flimsi. The orphanage itself was based deep within the desert town of Anchorhead, a former settlement turned established town. Soon after settling in and after attempts to find any details about the delivered child that were of no success, Jalen was considered an orphan like the other kids that were present there. Time went by and he grew like anyone else as dawn settled into dusk as each day passed and he began to learn and grow. The young man over his early years noticeably began to develop a strong aptitude and love in all things technical, some examples being speeder and starship mechanics, along with astromech droids and computers such as datapads. Time went by and the young boy had even started to learn a great deal about weapons and fighting, the latter he often had to research and practice on his own through different means.

An Unlikely Discovery

Around the age of 10, he was discovered by a well-travelled couple named Den, a former starship pilot and part-time mechanic, and Ava Kobar, a retired doctor. Despite their advanced ages now stretching into their 60's, they were surprisingly active and energetic. However, they knew they were getting older, so they adopted the young man into their childless family to work as a general hand on their isolated refueling station cross homestead that was based in the south of the planet. The property handled several things like ship and vehicle refueling to droid repair and maintenance along with dealings in livestock like bantha and dewbacks among others. Visitors ranged from Rodian traders to Corellian transport pilots and even the occasional family of Aleena and several others from all walks of life. This variety of experiences served to further improve his skills and abilities and instilled in him a strong work ethic as he went about getting a variety of things done on what they at times affectionately referred to as the "homestead". Whether it was repairing a damaged vaporator, old droid, refueling a ship, or even offloading cargo, it was done. All were tasks that benefited him and the family business greatly as he matured and it began to grow over his childhood. During his earlier years he also spent a great deal of time elsewhere on the planet with the occasional trip offworld to planets around the galaxy for business and the rare family vacation. Also over this time he had learned how fight with weapons and equipment during occasional and eventful hunting trips around the planet and elsewhere. Throughout his young years he also became a capable pilot of speeders and starships.

Leaving Home

Later on, Jalen thought about what the future had in store for him as he lived life on the rather unique homestead and planet he now knew quite well. Time went by and far into his teenage years he informed his parents about his eventual desire to move offworld and build a life of his own, but he agreed to remain until he was no longer needed. However at the same time he noticed something was strange. Unfortunately, his now very old parents had become suddenly very frail and were lacking energy. Some more years passed and he was advanced to a more administrative role and personally dealt with the more higher level duties as well as those he started off with. Some time afterwards, he discovered their presence was absent. Upon further discovery he walked over to the living area and found a small and neat note addressed to him on the kitchen bench. With a gaze, Jalen realized he had been left what appeared to be a will detailing that he was now the owner of the Kobar Homestead and that he was allowed to do whatever he wished with it. The man then went about tying a few loose ends on the station cross homestead and proceeded to sell the property to the local authorities shortly afterwards. With this complete, he went about finding the nearest offworld starport and came across a GNS news feed in the waiting area.

Third Uli Memorial Swap Meet

While observing the GNS news story he noticed it was about the Third Uli Memorial Swap Meet. Finding an interest in it he decided to set course for the location it was held at and left soon after bound for the tribal mid-rim world named Kiffex. After some time on the speedy yet rather uncomfortable StarTours starship, Jalen arrived at the heavily crowded event on Year 18 Day 13. The congregation hosted people from all walks of life and the event itself was hosted by the Kiffar clan named “Clan Nah’utal”. It was located at the city named Basa Oihanak Gotorleku in the native language of the Kiffar known as ‘Kiffu’. From this location, the went about and bought several kinds of vehicles, a ship, and multiple items for his own use from funds sourced from the property sold back on Tatooine. With the credits been near exhausted, clearly having served their purpose, the man then met a member of the Gree Trade Authority named Tomas O`Cuinn over a trade deal as the last few deliveries came in. The experienced Mandalorian introduced Jalen to the GTA and how business across the galaxy worked in general.

After finishing a series of activities ranging from purchasing various goods to meeting others of various stripes at the infamous event, Jalen made the call to join the Gree Trade Authority on Year 18 Day 15. Some time had passed while the Tatooinian completed a range of jobs in the transportation field. Deciding to seek his fortune alone and with no hard feelings during Year 18 Day 72, he departed the faction and wished its leadership all the best as they did to him. After a fairly short period of time man from the outer-rim found a location to travel towards and left soon after.

Life as a Freelance Spacer

Whilst within the depths of hyperspace, Jalen contemplated what was to be done with the rest of his life. He thought about many a thing and soon after arriving at a faraway destination in the outer-rim territories the now freelancer decided to go about hunting and selling the various things he had acquired from the remnants of his defeated foes that he had encountered. Among them were bandits and creatures of various kinds in different forms of terrain across several planets. He continues to do this to this day and has gained a variety of experiences from it and has come across some wealth as a result of the treasures he has found and continues to find.

Appearance

At present, Jalen is a blue-eyed man aged 25 and is devoid of any tattoos or scarring. Despite his age he looks far older. He also stands at 6’1, has medium muscular build and weighs about 220 pounds and as a result in general is strong due to years of work on Kobar’s Station and elsewhere when required. He maintains this strength and fitness through various forms of work he presently undertakes. Most of it is through hunting creatures and bandits to support his trading business, Kobar’s Bazaar.

Personality

Jalen is at times a fairly talkative and social fellow that speaks his mind. However, there are other instances where he knows when to speak and to hush. The man from the outer-rim possesses an awareness of how to deal with situations. He’s been observed as innovative, focused calculative and rather charismatic by those close to him. However, he has a tendancy to wear his heart on his sleeve and can be at times too persistent with his commitments and is at times seen as a ‘workaholic’.

As a man Jalen has a range of skills developed from a young age and maintained in the present day. They range from unarmed combat to droid and other mechanical repair and maintenance.

Jalen has strong interests in fighting, starships, especially his x-wing, and several other things like weapons and armor including many other technologies.

Doesn’t exactly religious but believes there is another kind of being that is somewhere out there in the galaxy or beyond watching the events of the galaxy unfold.
