Konar Siosk-Baas, also known as Ksian Qui-Soran, was a young Human male stormtrooper born on the planet Tatooine. He served under General Mark DeMeer in the 3rd Imperial Battalion, colloquially known as "the Dark Blade Legion."[1] When Warlord Vodo Bonias and his protege Grayson Uebles deposed Charon as emperor, General DeMeer and most of Konar's Imperial colleagues chose to mutiny. After DeMeer was executed by the Imperial Security Bureau, Konar defected from the Empire in disgust. Safely aboard his Y-Wing starfighter Galactic Eagle, he plotted a course through the Seswenna Sector to join the Jedi Praxium. While en-route, the Eidola Pirates raided his ship and murdered him.

Konar was born as Ksian Qui-Soran on the desert planet of Tatooine. He grew up as the only child of Sylvia Qui-Soran and Vyystal Qui-Soran, a former Jedi Knight. His ambitious father Vyystal believed his son might have the potential to wield the Force and secretly instructed his son in lightsaber training. However, as the Jedi Code forbade such teaching, Konar would have to find a Jedi Master to continue his training.
When Konar was eighteen years old, Vyystal persuaded his querulous son to leave their backwater world and to roam the pale stars. Thus Konar began his journey to distant worlds. While star-hopping, Konar became feverish one night aboard his starship. In his mind's eye, he saw soldiers slowly torturing his parents with vibro-knives. He returned to Tatooine as he felt he could not continue his travels.
Upon returning home Konar discovered that his parents were dead. A reported sighting of Rebel Alliance stragglers in the area led him to conclude his parents died in a guerilla attack. Consumed by black vengeance, he zoomed off-world in his Z-95 Headhunter for Obra Skaii and enlisted in the Galactic Empire. He trained in the Imperial Academy until he graduated with honors. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Eventually, Konar progressed to Sergeant First Class (E-7). Unusually short-tempered, he was quick to engage his fellow legionnaires in argument, especially his colleague Sergeant First Class Banquo Knox who was every bit as stubborn as he was.
On Year 4 Day 133, Emperor Charon was forced to abdicate the Imperial throne and chaos ensued. These events led to the death of Konar's commander and friend Mark DeMeer. Following Charon's overthrow by Warlord Vodo Bonias and Greyson Uebles, DeMeer became openly critical of the new Imperial High Command.[2] He reportedly conspired with Grand Vizier Corell Aintab to depose Emperor Uebles and Warlord Bonias. He was summarily executed by Uebles' Imperial Security Bureau circa Year 4 Day 250.[3][4]
The execution of DeMeer and the reign of the Bonias-Uebles cabal greatly dimmed the Empire's reputation in Konar's eyes. For months, he was in a state of disbelief. He was ordered to board a starship designated Typhoon which transported him to Alderaan. He deliberately missed the flight and defected in his Z-95 Headhunter. Using a bootlegged holonet receiver, he contacted the gray-bearded masters of the Jedi Praxium and revealed that he was Force Sensitive. The Praxium accepted him into their hallowed ranks, but he would need to escape Imperial territory and make his way to their ancient citadel in the Outer Rim Territories.
Luckily, a rebel smuggler learned of Konar's predicament and offered to trade Konar's Z-95 Headhunter for a Y-Wing. As his Z-95 Headhunter was no more than a metal scrapheap torn apart by ion storms, Konar quickly accepted the bargain. A week later, the Y-Wing was delivered and Konar quickly escaped. He was chased off the planet by a pack of rampaging TIE Fighters.[3]
