Kyran Caelius (/ˈkɪərɔːn keɪˈliˈʌs/; born Year -14 Day 293) is a citizen of the Avance Coalition, and member of House Soyak-Ikron. After graduating from the University of Coruscant in Year 8, Caelius spent many years on sabbatical to further his craft. However, in Year 14 he rejoined the greater society in order to support long-time friend Lilith Kaine-Natanaele. Notable for his full beard and extensive tattoo work, he is openly neutral in the galactic conflict and closely aligned with the Kaine house. He has also been known to dabble in assorted art forms, though often for personal usage rather than financial benefit. Ideologically, Caelius follows a laissez-fair philosophy and avidly supports minimal legislative interference in the lives of humans, at an almost anarchistic level.

Biography

Early life

Kyran Caelius was born in Xuczal City, planet Thyferra, to educator Kasimir Caelius and his wife Isolde Caelius (née Vestalis). His father was Coruscanti, born in the planet-wide Galactic City, while his mother was a native of Xuczal. An only child, Caelius lived on Thyferra until he began schooling. At age 5 his parents chose to move to Empress Teta, where they believed a dominant human environment, rather than one heavily influenced by the Vratix, would offer greater intellectual stimulation.

While the Caelius house lived comfortably on the Imperial world, in Year -3, Kasimir Caelius began working for the Kaine family as an instructor to Lilith Kaine. To aid his father, often the young Caelius accompanied him to tutoring sessions. Though initially Caelius' and Kaine's relationship was one of a forced teaching environment, over time their relationship thrived, leading to a long-time friendship. Their camaraderie led to Caelius' frequent appearance at the Kaine estate, through which he developed a distinctly fraternal bond with Gabriel Kaine. As he grew older, these relationships would flourish into a sense of belonging amongst the Kaine household, who had in essence become his second family.

An example of Caelius' Humanocentric political vandalism.

As a teenager, the head of the Kaine house, Incubus Kaine, was executed for treason. This event deeply effected the Kaines, and the psychological trauma developed a pervasive recklessness and aggression in Caelius' demeanor. Often spending his nights on Empress Teta in Ryll fueled euphoria, he had learned to use manipulation in order to achieve his goals, whether professional, personal, or a combination of both. Frequently promiscuous and under the influence of illegal substances, he had taken to technological distractions, creating diverse gadgets to entertain himself. When he wasn't tinkering, he had resorted to the creation of art and eventually vandalism to fill his time. The subject of his art differed greatly, varying from simple caricatured culture references, forays to the macabre, and less frequently political statements.

It was due to his talents and outspoken behaviors, that an extremist humanocentric movement had contacted, and eventually radicalized the young Thyferran. His computer skills were immediately put to use to benefit the speciest endeavors. When technology would fail to achieve their goals, he resorted to art as propaganda. For some years these behaviors persisted, and as Caelius hit college age he was convinced by his fellows to attend the University of Coruscant, in order to further his knowledge of his craft. Thus, in Year 4, utilizing Asenour Kaine's connections to secure admittance to the university, he left to begin his life on Coruscant.

Adulthood

Initially Caelius joined the Computer Science program, and began his studies with a focus on applications. Given his teenage experiences, in this he excelled for the first year of his education. However, before beginning his second, he was approached by Civil Engineering staff at the university who believed his mind was better suited to planetary development. While hesitant to change his focus, given the reason for attending, some of his radical ideology had tempered without consistent influences. His decision was made, when the staff appealed to his narcissism, painting a picture of his potential influences on the worlds he could advance.

Enrolling in both the Geotechnical and Structural Engineering programs, Caelius exceeded expectations. In a hologram to a colleague, one of his Professor's described his abilities, "When he looks at a planet, his mind sees the future through its potential. He doesn't see bare ground, but the evolution of a world from the resources which lie within it to the metropolis which could flourish above it. His capacity to envision each plausible component is outstanding."

Graduating in Year 8, Caelius had varied considerations to take into account for his future. Deciding to continue honing his craft, he set off on a six year leave to explore the galaxy, specifically the genesis of observable architectural cultural diversity. At each planet he explored disparate colonies and cities, in order to study the origin, design, and integration of society with its natural environment. Though he refused to utilize communicators while visiting inchoate communities, Caelius maintained semi-frequent contact with Lilith and Gabriel Kaine whenever his travels brought him to urbanized environments.

It was during his travels that Caelius began sporting his beard, not for fashion but convenience. While visiting a small primal colony in the forests of Gannaria, he was offered a tattoo of a stylized eye-snatcher, a revered bird within their people, as a parting gift. Having it placed on his left collar, this would become the first of many in a long tradition.

Masterforge

Given the closeness of his relationship with the Kaines, Caelius had held that if ever they needed him, he would come without question. Visiting the the city of Imthitill, on the Aqualish homeworld of Ando, he received a message from Lilith Kaine in which she expressed a desire for support. Finishing his business on the planet, he gathered his belongings and immediately began travel to the planet of Vorsia. Arriving on Year 14, Day 217 he worked as an administrative aide, helping with the civil development and organization of 'Dark Skies Gearworks'.

In returning to the civilized world, Caelius also endeavored to expand his connections with neutral governments. This goal was two-fold: he wanted to offer his services to the neutral sects of the galaxy, but he further hoped to establish connections with like-minded sentients. In studying some of the neutral governments, House Soyak-Ikron of the Avance Coalition appealed to Caelius' ideological background. After a quick application and interview process, he joined the House and its Political Caste. In working within House Soyak-Ikron, a series of events led to Caelius decision to begin working with Avance full-time.

Personal Information

Attributes

Caelius, Y14, a close head shot.

Tall for a human and muscularly lean, as is often seen in Thyferrans, Caelius stands at 1.96 meters and weighs 90.1 kilograms. Generally sporting a pale skin tone, due to the frequently encapsulated nature of his work, he is covered in a variety of tattoos which extend from his neck to his calves. The majority of his tattoos were completed on a unique planet, with each abstractly representing the core experience of the culture from which it originated. Caelius has admitted that he can no longer recall each tattoo; rather he asserts that each piece of work represents another life experience.

Stylistically, Caelius is diverse in his choices, his wardrobe conforming to the demands of his environment. Casually, he habitually wears simple tee shirts or button-ups, dark denym jeans, and black boots. However, when social conventions require it of him, he is at home in more formal attire. For work, he often wears a thick jumpsuit in order to protect himself from the persistent particulate hazards. Though for much of his life he displayed shorter facial hair, since late Year 10 he has worn a full beard which is meticulously groomed at all times; given its rarity, it has become a trademark of his appearance. His eyes are a dark sepia tone, while his often coiffed locks are only a few shades lighter.

Personality

Throughout his higher education, Caelius was regarded by his fellows as handsome, charismatic, intelligent, and kind. However, others have described him as egocentric, cunning, and at times quick to anger. Known for his proneness to boredom, frequently he has exhibited impulsive and irresponsible behaviors in order to cull his listlessness. Despite the conflicting accounts of his personality, it has often been noted that while appearing serious and brooding, his conversational demeanor is warm, and one of amiable sarcastic wit.

When questioned about galactic politics, Caelius has displayed frequent disinterest, heavily favoring the Galactic Concordiate for its neutral stance on the Second Galactic Civil War and its focus on trade and development. He has vocally been a critic of the Galactic Alliance and their perceived instability in both structure and values. Still, on the rare occasion Caelius has been involved in political deliberations he has shown a profound ability to utilize guileful eloquence in order to garner support for his viewpoints.

Around those with whom he is close, he has demonstrated a candid capability for affection and devout loyalty. Within his close interpersonal relationships, a clear sense of willing vulnerability and sincerity has been observed between Caelius and those he calls friend. However, the frequency in which he has engaged in deep connections has always appeared limited, and despite an extensively promiscuous youth, his relationships in adulthood have been well concealed.

Caelius and Kellan.

Relationships

In Year 14, Caelius was introduced to Leigh Kellan through mutual friend, Lilith Kaine-Natanaele. Immediately there was chemistry between Caelius and Kellan, inspiring a quickly formed romance. Characteristic to Caelius' preference for privacy, their relationship was initially secret: "I take solstice in the fact that I control my own words. Others can do and say what they like. If I don't open my life to the public realm, however, it retains a certain intimate solitude that I value." Though public now, Caelius has still elected to maintain a low profile, only discussing his personal life with close friends.

Views

"Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess." ~ Human Philosopher

Xenophobia

Caelius is an adamant opponent of sentient equality, having been raised from an early age to embrace humanocentric views. His thoughts on sentient equality were further compounded by the staunch Imperial atmosphere of the University of Coruscant. As an ideological basis for his continued support of galactic nonhuman speciesism, Caelius has argued that human superiority has existed through the universe as a natural state. He has further cited the consistent triumphs of the human races over others as galactic leaders. While his often radical viewpoint diminished some during his engineering sabbatical, as he was forced to live alongside non-humans on remote planets, he still holds a general distrust for non-humans. However, he is capable of working alongside non-humans without issue.

Religion

For most of Caelius' life he held no spiritual convictions. Rather, he firmly rejected the belief in any deity and would openly challenge theists; his combativeness was particularly evident when sentients would attempt to proselytize the Thyferran. Despite his atheist dogma, upon hearing of Lilith Kaine's execution he suffered a severe emotional crisis. This exigency, and her following transfer of physical forms, would culminate in a strong uncharacteristic belief in the Reansucru faith. Forced into further self-evaluation during his respite, his Reansucru tenets were further rooted in place. When Caelius' sabbatical was over, he began to pursue officially joining the church, rather than serving as a distant follower. After discussion with the Church leader, Gabriel Kaine, it was determined that he followed the Shade of Blue as his primary Force Shade:

"With the usage of knowledge, the Shade of Blue can be manipulative, logical, deceitful, and with patience…powerful. The Shade of Blue values a person's intellect, their ability to be creative, and [their ability to be] progressive. Many followers of this shade go as far as creating great machines, wonders of bewilderment, and vast cities. Choosing to employee secrecy and schemes, you will hardly find a blue vanguard, that is pride of the Shade of White. One needs to be mindful that they do not become overly manipulative and treacherous in pursuit of this shade. Prayers sent to the Shade of Blue ask for both knowledge and wisdom."
