Named after an addictive fruit on Bakura, the world where the ship was initially designed and built, the Namana-class is one of the largest light cruisers ever produced. Created to combine decent sublight speeds with a reasonable armament, this class is often seen working in various roles from a fleet escort to a lone patrol, though it works best when assigned to a capable commander that can fully utilize the unique nature of the ship.

One of the unique features of the Namana is the placement of the main engines on long extensions outside the hull. Though the engine mounts do not improve manoeuvrability, this feature serves other purposes, such as increased survivability due to the ability to isolate a damaged engine and aesthetics.

This class of ship was also the first to incorporate the Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainer, allowing the ships to travel through an Interdictor field without being pulled out of hyperspace. However, in the years since these ships were commissioned they have been superseded, and the governments that used to own these began to decommission the HIMS on-board before selling to interested parties.

What makes the Namana-class stand out from other light cruisers, though, is the large docking bay with which the Bakuran designers outfitted it; some even have employed the ship as a light carrier for three to four squadrons of small fighters. The extended cargo and docking bay has made the Namana highly sought after by pirates and small fleets, since they can use it simultaneously as a mobile headquarters, a warship, a carrier, and a storage facility for their goods.

All together, the Bakuran designers created a highly prized and sought after ship when they designed the Namana. Able to fill many roles in fleets, she is starting to become one of the mainstay ships in many government, private, and pirate fleets.

Known Namana-class Light Cruisers

This is a listing of the known operational Namana-class Light Cruisers, and their current owners. Where possible, they are organized by their production date, via the ship registry identification number.

  • [CSA] Swift Deceit:
Ship Registry ID #: 145460, Current Owner: CSA, Previous Owner: Sven Wan, Modifications: Reinf Blast Doors
Believed to have been passed to Akuma Ell by Tar Alaks, as a gift sometime late Year 13-early Year 14. Lost to Sven Wan during a late Year 14 scam spree. Subsequently passed to Corporate Sector Authority after Sven retired from public life. Previous ownership unknown, although suspected owned by Black Sun.
  • [CAE] Iniquitous Warlord:
Ship Registry ID #: 146761, Current Owner: Kyran Caelius, Previous Owner: Micma Mitot, Modifications: None
  • S.S Kurogane:
Ship Registry ID #: 155996, Current Owner: Lucmark Warren, Previous Owner: None, Modifications: Reinf Blast Doors
  • Arc Tymestl:
Ship Registry ID #: 157687, Current Owner: Ellias Aubec, Previous Owner: None, Modifications: None
  • LDS Last Hour of Sunlight:
Ship Registry ID #: 164470, Current Owner: Lilith Delcroix, Previous Owner: Ankha Natanaele, Modifications: None
Incomplete records make it difficult to trace the origins of the cruiser. The earliest confirmed owner was Fleur`De Rouge who used the ship under the name "Ankha's Heart". After her death in Year 14 the cruiser's ownership came to Syn, but was sold two months later to Gilbert Reed, who purchased it for Minerva Umgee and held it as collateral. The cruiser never went into her ownership and was traded to Robby Rae later in the same year. Robby did not keep it for long and gave the cruiser to its namesake, Ankha Natanaele and it was rechristened as AN Tsek. After her tragic death the cruiser passed to her wife, Lilith Delcroix.
