The daughter of renowned pirate Keir Santage, Teniel Djo rose to prominence in her role as leader of the Eidola Pirates. Colloquially nicknamed the Pirate Queen, she was one of the galaxy's most notorious and successful scammers and relied on her quick wit and sharp tongue to relieve victims from their possessions, rather than attempting to conceal her identity as a thief and a pirate. Despite her legacy of murder and looting, she had a fan following due to cheeky public excerpts released from her diary on a regular basis, coupled with her occasional efforts to redistribute small portions of her wealth to the poor by way of microloans and the rare legitimate raffles. However, it has often been speculated that her seeming generosity stemmed from ulterior motives, such as gaining contacts, temporary allies, or even new recruits.

Djo committed suicide on Year 12 Day 207, along with a number of her fellow pirates, by piloting her heavily modified YV-666, the Gráinne Ni Mháille, into a black hole within the Maw, citing in a transmission released shortly before her death a jadedness and dissatisfaction with galactic events over the decades. Before leaving, it is reported she attempted to leave Eidola, her own pirate group, with no territory and take away all of its planets, for unclear reasons, but was unable to, and had to satisfy herself with destroying Eidola's most rare warships along with her in the maw. However, for unknown reasons, although Djo and her companions committing suicide died, Eidola was able to keep her from destroying the ships, and rescued them months later. Her suicide left Eidola in the hands of Warlord Squall Chitose.
