Personal Notes For Article Rewrite

1.) Regarding Bisz Aldaris: Could you provide me with further details about the "second mini-coup" after Kuraine's death? How did that exactly happen? Squall Chitose indicated that Bisz wasn't the highest ranking FF officer at the time and that a third person named "Ruuyjin" was somehow instrumental in Bisz becoming leader after Kuraine's death. Is this true?

- Squall is indeed correct. Squall as you know was head of the FF Army at the time, and one of Kuraine's loyal supporters. What I need to make very clear from the start is that IC, Tholin never considered Kuraine's assasination as a betrayal. Tholin was the founder of the Federation and its first King - as a former black sun vigo he was well accustomed to behind the scenes power plays and negotiations. Tholin identified Kuraine a then wealthy individual as one who could lift the standing of an impoverished Falleen federation. As a result, Tholin abdicated and named Kuraine his heir and allowed him to marry his daughter (Also assasinated by Thraken Solo) and replacement, with the intention of manipulating the young king and continuing to control the Federation. Kuraine's considerable personal wealth was indeed incorporated into the Federation, but tholin began to loose control of Kuraine's actions - particularly as kuraine continued to promote and elevate his own loyal supporters. (squall Bisz, and Ruuyjin). At this time, Tholin was the number two in the Federation, Jace Number 3. When word of Kuraine's assassination went through, unbenkown to Tholin, Kuraine had set in motion a caretaker arrangement where the minister of culture became the caretaker leader - contrary to the constitution, Ruuyjin a kuraine loyalist was at the time that Minister, and a minor functionary. In the space of a few IC hours (a number of days OOC) she selected a third neutral party to lead the Federation, given Tholin's implication in Kuraine's death.

2. Jace Meridan and Tholin were blood brothers and were always united in purpose. Jace had started his career in the Empire, and aligned himself with Tholin quite early on. Tholin, had always maintained direct communication and even at times alliances with the Galactic Empire, and never considered them a mortal enemy despite the occupation that had resulted in the war of independence. Tholin's perspective was that if he needed to make friends with a former enemy to secure his people he would. He regularly manipulated both the Rebel Alliance and GE, or worked them against the other - seeing himself and the original tri star alliance (Hapes, NAO and FF) as the third power block, neither aligned to nor with the GE or RA. Its as a result of this that the FF had a small war with the Rebel Alliance, against a fleet led by then RA Supreme Commander Davyk Lysander (A memebr of Tholin's clan who never forgave the empire.). Jace often spoke to the GE on behalf of Tholin. How do you think it was possible for Tholin to have a direct line to the Emperor and request the assistance of Sith assasins? Tholin never considered the emprie an ally - nor did he ever give up Federation independence. The deal struck by Tholin - knowing the duplicity of the GE, was always an indepedant but neutral third party. Kuraine, allied with Lysander, had turned the Federation into a Pro Alliance, and Anti Empire faction - with resources. It was this that motivated Tholin and Jace to conspire to murder Kuraine - an attempt to return the Federation to Neutrality. It should be noted that Bisz Aldaris was a former Rebel Alliance Admiral - and Tholin had always considered him Honourable (hence the later entent between the two).

Jace Meridan and Myself both participated in the capture of Shadowstone - though I was part of the space support fleet rather than the incursion party. Jace and I had actually manufactured Moff Vir Calder's defection - not kuraine - though the capture of Shadowstone was purely of Kuraines design. Our actions on the Shadowstone were an attempt to minimise FF casualty whilst sabotaging the attempt at capture - knowing it would be a severe escalation in the GE/FF conflict - something they wanted to avoid. Clearly this failed.

When the GE renegged on respecting Federation Neutrality (primarily due to Bisz Aldaris asscenion (a former Rebel Alliance Admiral as King was no guarantee) - - and the failure of Tholin and Jace to consolidate power - The GE started the genocide of Lornor. Jace died manning the defences on Libra station against the Imperial onslaught, while Tholin lead a squadron of Z-95s in combat against the Empire. Bisz allowed Tholin to withdraw, and Tholin was tried for regicide - a trial that was never followed through, as no one had the stomach to incriminate the founder of their nation. Kuraine Loyalists continued to seek retribution, but Tholin was protected by Bisz. eventually and momentarily joining his government as a minister.

3. Tholin was not on Libra station when Kuraine was assasinated, Tholin was in the cockpit of his Z-95 and in combat at the time. Tholin and Jace simultaneously issued the order to stand down to the Federation and its allies, and attempted to gain control of the government - clearly not possible given the events back on Falleen. The reality is, OOC we were beaten by the tools of the game, and had a lengthy discussion with Admin regarding the transfer of power as a result of a white scenario. eventually the game mechanism won out.

Tholin never provided the locations of all Federation military assets to the Galactic Empire, the only thing he did provide were security codes and location in order to target Kuraine.

As far as Tholin was concerned - he never betrayed the Federation - it was still his to do with as he willed - he made Kuraine, he reserved the right to remove him. His intention was to protect the Federation's neutrality - Kuraine had turned it into a Rebel Alliance Vassal, that was about to suffer the biggest imperial invasion that the galaxy had ever seen.

Tholin always said, he traded Kuraine's life and the Loronar system for the survival of the Federation - and whilst he didn't lead the federation after his exile - The Federations subsequent growth and golden age would never have been possible. The Empire had planned to invade Falleen itself as punishment for shadowstone - an action that did not occur after the Battle of Beta. The continued conquest of the Federation was entirely within their capability - the Federation Fleet was battered, her allies had fled - yet the empire did not press its advantage.

So in summary - Up until Kuraine - Tholin and the Empire had an undeclared entente. Tholin sought to re-establish this balance, and simultaneously retake his throne.

Well - I hope that helps to start with! Jace, Pixelor Xess (Now Tyriss Haxim) Jado Dur'Rick, MeXecuter and all our allies always made a distinction between Kuraine and the FF. He was a temporary puppet - betraying him, was not betraying the Federation.

ive just read in detail your summary of the Battle of Beta - there are a few inconsistencies I would gladly help sort out.

A few minor things, Bisz wasnt elected, there was a seccond mini coup - Tholin and Jace actually fought in the subsequent battle against the GE at beta, which is when Jace died - on Libra station.

The empire didnt seek me out, I sought them out - and there was never any talk of the Federation being a satelite or subordinate state. To say I was a falleen noble is understating it - I was the Founder of the Falleen Federation and its first king - and had abdicated in favour of Kuraine - so seeing him destroy the federation was my motivation for his removal.
