The Hunter-class corvette is one of the most advanced subs in production. With a sleek outer hull that is shaped much like a triangle, it easily slices through water at high speeds. Carrying powerful lasers and dual torpedo launchers, this sub is dangerous to any carrier or patrol boat out at sea alone. When submerged the Hunter can reach speeds up to 90 km/h, the highest recorded speed for any submersible. Also sporting great hull strength, the Hunter can take quite a beating. With all its speed and fire-power, the Hunter corvette does have its flaws. Designers wanted to have a faster, but powerful submersible. For this desire, they built the Hunter-class corvette's sensor dish inside the hull to keep the outer hull from extruding anything that would slow it down. This caused it to have very low sensor range. Another flaw would be from the speed which it traveled, which the ship could not keep up with in turns. This meant the Hunter had to drop to very low speeds to do any sharp turns, which gave other vessels a chance to catch up and fire. When this submersible is teamed up with another vessel with greater sensors, the Hunter-class corvette can be a deadly adversary and ally.

By year 12 the Hunter-class Corvette was one of the more powerful submarines in general production. The attacks on The Antarian Rangers in Year 10 by Black Sun had reduced Aratech's capacity to build the Hunters. However by late year 12 they were coming off the lines again in limited numbers primarily to private clients.

The main weakness of the class is its sensors which are underpowered due to a design of the sensor dish being inside the hull. It is more ideally used when teamed with another vessel with higher sensor ratings. It also lacks the stealth capabilities of the Imperial Attack Sub and the Mon Calamari Attack Sub used by the Empire and the Republic respectively.

Despite its flaws it is the most advanced submarine available to planetary garrisons, private armies, and minor governments. Aratech researchers hope to improve the design in years to come.
