The Immu Sprout plant is one of the most useful medicinal plants in the galaxy. Used frequently in herbal medicine particularly, it also occasionally makes an appearance in a specialists garden due to its delicate, graceful pink blossoms which appear for a single day in early spring.

Taxonomy

Known to science as Mor lila the Immu Sprout is a plant found far and wide throughout the galaxy. It produces small, rounded pink blossoms which register for a mere single day. However, it is their internal structure which makes them special. The stem is not held together by typical plant cells. Instead, specialized microtubules hold microcells in place. The remaining space is used by specialized cells called erdogas. The erdogas produce a special chemical called tryphenoa. This chemical is used in the Immu Sprout to inhibit water loss from the stem and leaves. This specialized chemical also fights possible fungal infections in the plant.

Gardening and Uses

The Immu Sprout plant has a cult following in the gardening world. Planted densely enough, there can be plenty of flowers to last several weeks in the right garden, though each individual flower will last a mere day. They do require full sun and a well drained soil area, but beyond that are fully hardy and able to survive a great deal of temperature changes. Researchers value the Immu Sprout for the tryphenoa. Tryphenoa is used as a sedative in surgery for patients who cannot handle the usual anesthetics. However, it's primary use is in naturalistic medicine. Naturopathic doctors frequently prescribe tryphenoa as a sleeping aid, as well as for various gastro-intestinal complaints. Traditional doctors claim that there are no known benefits to prescribing tryphenoa but many sentients rely heavily on it as an aid in the battle against insomnia.
