Yikizzi Tribe

The Yikizzi Tribe were a nomadic group of Yam`rii who, despite the changing technological use of their fellow Yam`rii, retained the ancient traditions of their ancestors. The tribal structure was based on a eusocial hierarchy, with every member contributing to specific areas.

The allocation of labor was based upon the color of the Yam`rii. The Gix`zix (Gray Ones) maintained the history of the tribe, made decisions for the tribe, and preformed the Tchidiz Ritual. The Chiz`zix (Brown Ones) gathered building materials and constructed dwellings and traps. The Ric`zix (Green Ones) were the tribal hunters, supplying the tribe with food. On extremely rare occasions, a yellow Yam`rii would survive the Tchidiz ritual. The emergence of a Dheezich (Eye of Anger) was a dire portent for the tribe, typically meaning war was on the horizon. The Dheezich were rumored to have magical powers, and be able to see into the future.

Tribal Customs

The Yikizzi did not believe in wasting resources. They used every part of their kills, and never took more than was needed. While this limited the types of creatures that they hunted, it also helped to keep the location of the tribe secret. Leaving behind waste would have allowed trackers to catch the tribe easier. When a member would die, the tribe would gather to eat the remains and bury any portion that was inedible.

Yikizzi custom also affected the names of the members themselves, with the first name being the name of the caste they belonged to. A secondary name was chosen after the Tchidiz Ritual, which was used to direct communication toward a specific member. The reasoning behind this was to help suppress individualism, so that the member continued to place the tribal needs before personal ones.

Tchidiz Ritual

Yikizzi were allowed to procreate twice a year, and any violations were met with death. A week after the last eggs were laid, all eggs were brought to the Gix`zix and placed into separate sections, based on color of the "parent". The Gix`zix then chose the eggs to be hatched, with the rest being consumed by the remainder of the tribe. The number of eggs chosen was directly proportionate to the number of caste members lost prior to the last ritual. How each egg was selected is unknown, and it may have been random entirely. After the eggs were chosen, they were returned to their caste to be hatched and taught their future roles.

The ritual helped to remove any semblance of immediate family, as the true parents of each egg were unknown. This helped solidify tribal cohesion and kept the numbers to a manageable level.

Xichix Emerges

Returning from a 2 week hunt for an Aako (a large slug whose tendons were dried for medicinal salves), Xichix returned to find his tribe had destroyed itself. Tribe members had turned upon each other, with almost the entire tribe getting killed. After several days, the pieces of what happened had come together.

A freighter carrying ryll had crashed near the tribal camp. Several bodies near the site indicated that a small skirmish had occurred there, but the crew had been overcome and killed by Yikizzi. The tribe had then begun consuming the ryll, which created a delirious rage in them. They began to kill each other for the Ryll, even killing those under the effect of it to consume them.

Having been left with no leadership, the remainder of the tribe (now known as the Ric'zix Tribe) did the only thing they knew how to do- hunt. The new leadership was based on pure strength, and few dared to challenge for it- because failure meant death. Being the largest of the Ric'zix, Xixhix eventually became the leader of the tribe.

Survival

With no plan for the future, Xichix plotted revenge against the outsiders who destroyed the Yikizzi. After several raids against small towns, he realized that the Ric'zix needed weaponry and armor to face the technology of the unknown.

After speaking with several native Yam'rii, he learned that certain individuals had the capability to produce such weaponry. But being able to converse with them would be a different issue entirely. He would need a protocol droid to translate for him, as his capability to speak Basic was no longer possible (See Dietary Concerns). Doing several assassinations for a mean spirited droid trader, he was able to procure a protocol droid.

Using the droid to translate, Xichix kidnapped and forced several well known (at least on Huk) artisans to create weapons and armor for the Ric`zix Tribe. While the weaponry is still archaic by galactic standards, the protection it offered was enough for the tribe to continue it's revenge against the outsiders.

Ambushed!

After hearing about the kidnapped tradesmen, local law enforcement had offered a reward for Xichix. Two unknown bounty hunters had captured him one night, and transported him to an underground holding cell. After using sheer strength to force himself free, Xichix decided to leave the locals alone. Failure to do so could have meant the end of the Ric`zix tribe entirely.

Gathering the remainder of the Ric`zix Tribe (who now number less than 70), Xichix decided to take what he knows to a galactic scale- moving and hunting.

Dietary concerns

After numerous raids on small outposts and tourist attractions, the Ric`zix Tribe discovered they had numerous allergies to several species. Both Gand and Kel Dor are toxic to Ric`zix tribesmen (presumably due to the environment those species inhale), as well as Mon Calamari (although not lethal, the secretions of a Mon Calamari cause minor internal bleeding).

Xichix himself has an additional allergy, to Jawas. Xichix had lost his temper while looking for directions, and killed a Jawa trader. After he started consuming the fresh kill, he began convulsing and shaking. After several hours of seizures had subsided, Xichix realized he couldn't move his lower jaw as much as before. Losing a portion of his speech capability due to the paralysis, Xichix began to hunt for a protocol droid.

Because of the customs set forth by the Yikizzi, the Ric`zix Tribe always eats what it kills. They kill for survival, not for sport. So the Ric`zix will never hunt anything they are allergic to (see above), and they will never leave the hunted alive.
