Talk:Maridun (Planet)

Open discussion about the development of Maridun in the Combine timeline.

I have used canon names and events up to the Clone Wars, which I have described simply as the "collapse of the Old Republic". I have avoided the canon Imperial occupation of Maridun, which happened after the Clone Wars, and hence have also not mentioned the Hutt cartels taking over the local slave trade after the Empire. It isn't entirely clear to me where the traditional Star Wars ends and the Combine begins so I just played it safe and ignored anything that is said to have happened after the Clone Wars.

The Rakatan Infinite Empire make a nice device to explain the presence of the same common species of Creatures appearing on every planet. There is no canon story about Mandalorian refugees on Meridun, but the planet was in Mando territory during the war against the Republic and inventing a tale about refugees makes a convenient device for introducing the idea of Maridun's colonization and makes the native Amani seem more menacing by including a story about Mandalorian settlers disappearing. There is an established canon storyline about Lurmen from Mygeeto seeking asylum from the Clone Wars, and including Hutts made a nice device to explain how the Hutts knew about Maridun.

Maridun was unknown to the Combine galaxy until its discovery on Day 156 of Year 15, the date I chose for the grand opening of the Star Tours domestic terminal at Amanaman Station. I have taken the liberty of naming the two longest river traces the "Bina", after the Amani shopkeeper at Galaxy's Edge, and the "Berk" after the puppeteer who operated the Amani at Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi, Ailsa Berk.
