Zikkan Jaziik

Zikkan "Zik" Jaziik is a Jawa, unsurprisingly a member of Jawa Offworld Enterprises. He was one of the first Jawas to return to Tatooine following the Galactic Empire's strategic retreat, following the fall of the New Republic.

History

Origins

Born on the Jawa Homeworld of Tatooine, Zik remained there for much of his young life. He spent much of his time in the Jaziik Jawa Compound or taking part in Sandcrawler convoys across Tatooine that would buy and sell scrap, droids, or other wares. He learned from a young age how to repair just about anything. He also found himself very good with computers and sensor equipment, which would help him find gainful employment in the future. Sometime in Year 8, just as Zik was fully mature, his clan was uprooted from their compound during the militarization of the Jundland Wastes. The newly-formed New Republic governed Tatooine and, fearing retribution from the Galactic Empire, built many defensive structures across the desert. A side-effect of this expansion was that many of Tatooine's native races including Jawas and Tusken Raiders were forced into the open desert. Many did not survive.

Wandering the Desert

Clan Jaziik joined many other Jawa Clans in wandering the open desert of Tatooine. Despite having the safety of their Sandcrawler, the lack of a permanent compound forced new challenges upon the Clan. Supplies were hard to come by as they struggled to find new trading partners on-world. There were also bandits, raiders, and dangerous creatures that posed deadly threats. Zik put his skills to good use, fixing up any salvage he could put his hands on. Often, he would make trips into Mos Eisley or Anchorhead to search for droids, items, weapons, or any equipment he could bring back to the Crawler.

After a year or so in the desert, Clan Jaziik had lost nearly half of its Jawas. Some went missing, never to be heard from again. Many died fighting off bandits or beasts. The Clan Chief enlisted any able-bodied Jawa to learn how to shoot a blaster in order to defend the Crawler from these attacks in the future. While Zik had been trained at a young age how to shoot ion blasters as a means of disabling droids, he had never shot a projectile weapon with the intention to kill. But seeing many of his friends and clanmates die hardened Zik's resolve. He quickly became familiar with basic combat tactics and could reliably shoot a blaster at a target.

The Attack

While on their way to meet another Jawa Clan to do some trading, the Crawler was attacked by a Krayt Dragon. The Krayt Dragon was remarkably fast, despite attempts of Zik and other Jawas trying to wound it. Within an hour, the Krayt Dragon had majorly damaged the Crawler and killed nearly a dozen Jawas.
