Azumi`ryu Rasa (also known as Azumi’ryu’rasa or Miryura) is a female Chiss currently serving as a senior councilor in the Chiss Ascendancy. She is also part of House H`zebi and currently acts as their Speaker.

Early Life
Miryura was born on Day 58 of Year 3 to Azumi’ke’llma and Azumi’rel’ialas on a now-lost colony in the Unknown Regions. During the chaos of the Chiss Civil Dispute 10 years prior to Miryura’s birth, the Azumi family lost contact with many of their members on colony worlds and Csilla itself. An invading pirate force attacked the primary colony of the Azumi and survivors were forced to flee into the Chaos.

Led by Miryura’s mother, Mirelia, House Azumi spent two years trying to survive on the fringes of the Unknown Regions before establishing a small colony on an unclaimed ice moon. Members of House Azumi scraped out a living on the moon for half a decade as they tried to reestablish contact with the rest of the Ascendancy, but turmoil across Chiss Space and the difficulties of navigating the Unknown Regions made such attempts unsuccessful.

Miryura was born on the unnamed ice colony labeled X21-36 by House Azumi and spent the first three years of her life there. By age four, her connection to the Force was discovered and she quickly began training to become a sky-walker, a navigator who helps guide Chiss ships through the tangled web of the Chaos hyperspace lanes. While Chiss typically waited until children were a bit older to begin training and utilizing them as sky-walkers, the desperate situation the Azumi found themselves in forced Miryura into service earlier than most.

By age five, she was assigned to the Advertent Traveler, a corvette that served as an exploration, trade and defense vessel for House Azumi. She served as the ship’s sky-walker for five years, spending most of her time on board the vessel away from the Azumi colony. During her time as the Traveler’s sky-walker, she underwent a rigorous training regimen instituted by her mother and carried out by her caregiver, Azumi’tama’lanos. Though she was not allowed to be privy to the many tasks carried out by the Traveler, the curious young Chiss often went out of her way to discover as much as she could about missions, much to the annoyance of her caregiver and amusement of the ship’s captain, Azumi’tan’reyen. Miryura had little interaction with other children of her own age during this time, but seemed largely unbothered by the fact, content with her holobooks or interactions with the ship’s crew.

Captain Milananre, the strict but fair leader of the Traveler, seemed to have a soft spot for Miryura, and often indulged his sky-walker’s curiosity. The young Chiss quickly became enamored with the in’s and out’s of the Traveler, how it worked, what made it click, and Milananre fed those interests by personally teaching Miryura the basics of starship operation and maintenance.

Given the amount of time spent away on voyages, Miryura viewed Captain Milananre and the crew of the Traveler as her immediate family and the closely knit crew of the Traveler seemed to have similar feelings towards her. The exception seemed to be the oft-exasperated Mitamala, who was less than pleased with Miryura’s increased exposure to the rest of the crew.

The X33-01 Event
Despite the desperate situation House Azumi found themselves in, the five years Miryura spent as a sky-walker were, from her young perspective, exciting and interesting. However, everything came to a sudden crashing halt after something that is mentioned in the House Azumi records as “the X33-01 Event.” Details as to what happened are sparse but what is known is as follows: the Advertent Traveler was dispatched on an exploratory mission of a barren and uninhabited planet labeled as X33-01 in search of potential mineral veins. However, when the ship returned, all the crew were found killed in disturbing fashion across the ship and all records after its departure were purged. The sole survivor was Miryura, who had seemingly guided the Traveler back to the colony by herself. The shocked child could not recount anything that had happened, despite numerous questioning sessions, and with House Azumi’s limited resources and many pressing problems, the investigation quickly fell apart without many answers.

Fracturing Ties
Miryura’s Second and Third Sight abilities fell into perhaps permanent dormancy following the incident, ending her days as a sky-walker. Two years after the X33-01 Event, House Azumi made contact with Lesser Space and discovered that the remnants of the Ascendancy still existed on Csilla. However, what remained of Chiss space remained in chaos, prompting House Azumi to prepare for an eventual homecoming but to remain in the Chaos for the time being, continuing trade with the allies they had made while in exile and those in Lesser Space.

With the potential to return to Chiss society on the horizon, and steps towards a slow reintegration already being made, Miryura’s tutelage saw a shift. While she was allowed to attend basic classes with her peers, her time afterwards was filled with lessons with specialized tutors. Though some subjects like advanced physics and mathematics came easy to her, those focusing on the etiquette and social engineering necessary to navigate the dangerous web of Chiss politics did not. Even more secretive lessons were held, those involving personal defense and combat, but Miryura’s memories of these are vague at best. Expectations for Miryura to take up a key position with the House, potentially following Mirelia as matriarch, were set and were often suffocating, especially given the rigorous schedule she was to follow.

Miryura grew to despise both the lessons and expectations but could not break free of either; her sense of responsibility and loyalty to the Azumi was too great. Her relationship with her mother continued to fracture as a result, however.

It reached a breaking point soon after Miryura’s graduation from the academy. In the intervening years, House Azumi had established a reputable shipping and mining company in Lesser and Chiss Space and had abandoned the colony on X21-36 to the Chaos, returning to Csilla. Following her graduation, Miryura was placed in charge of one of the Azumi fleet’s key shipping vessels, both as a quick promotion and a way to placate the young Chiss growing increasingly frustrated with expectations to join the world of business and politics. Putting Miryura back in space turned out to be a smart move by her parents; while she was somewhat overwhelmed by the responsibility of leading a crew, the fact that she was able to return to a life of exploring the hyperlanes eased some of her growing reservations.

It was not long before the situation soured, however. During negotiations with a client, Miryura’s crew came under the scrutiny of the wealthy oligarch making the purchase. Rather than agree to the terms of the client, Miryura vehemently denied them, effectively ending the deal.

Prepared to suffer the repercussions of the failed deal, Miryura was surprised when she initially faced none. However, when she discovered that her mother had instead placed the blame at the feet of her crew instead, one voluntarily taking the blame himself and losing his position, Miryura was beside herself. She fought to have the crew members reinstated by the company but found herself walled off at every turn by Mirelia. Eventually, Miryura resigned herself and decided to leave House Azumi behind forever.

Joining the Chiss Ascendancy
With no real relationships with anyone outside of House Azumi and lacking the support of her family, Miryura had few choices for where to go next. The decision to leave Azumi had been brash, especially for one such as herself, with no real plan of action for what would follow. What she knew was that she wanted to be amongst the stars, and, if possible, help her fellow Chiss in the process.

Having these two goals in mind and few options available to her, the decision to join the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force as a pilot seemed the obvious one. Though putting her life in danger or potentially taking that of another gave her some pause, the idea of putting her skills to use in service of the Chiss people while also being able to return to space won out. The military life would not be so different from what she had experienced during those years under the command of Captain Milananre on the Advertent Traveler, or so she hoped.

Having little to her name but hoping to start anew, Miryura signed on as a pilot for the Chiss Ascendancy in Year 23. She tackled her initial training with the same focus and rigor that had served her well in the academy and quickly distinguished herself in the starfighter combat simulations. Passing through her warrior trials with flying colors, Miryura was assigned as a pilot to Csihehn Squadron and given the callsign Csihehn Nine.

Much to her surprise, she was given a small command over her flight, which included pilots Ellianna, Csihehn Ten, Staaen, Csihehn Eleven, and Pravos, Csihehn Twelve. While somewhat uncomfortable with a leadership position, given her previous experience, she set out to tackle the task with the same determination to succeed that she dedicated towards all her tasks.

The Reclamation of Chiss Space
During the time of her enlistment, the Seventh Chiss Ascendancy was in the midst of reestablishing itself after years under the yoke of the New Republic. Now free to govern themselves, the Ascendancy began moving rapidly to update their maps of the Csilla system and the surrounding Chaos.

Miryura and her squadron were assigned to the vessel the Enlighten, which was deployed to assist in these operations. For many months, the crew of the Enlighten scoured through the Chaos, mapping what they found and hoping to perhaps rediscover some of their missing colonies. It reminded Miryura a bit of her time with the Advertent Traveler, exploring the unknown, perhaps too much so.

It was during this time that Miryura was thrust into her first combat situation. After the collapse caused by the Chiss Civil Dispute and during the rule of the New Republic, the fringes of Chiss Space had become home to a number of mercenary and pirate groups that would prey upon civilian freighters. With little resources dedicated towards wrangling in these outlaws, they had thrived, setting up various operations in asteroid belts throughout the sector. While mapping out the sector was the Enlighten’s primary objective, clearing out pirates when they were discovered was also part of their mandate.

There were numerous skirmishes fought among the asteroid fields of the Chaos and the exploits of Csihehn Squadron soon became known among those privy to the operation. The tactics and firepower of the Ascendancy fleet was far superior to anything mustered by the pirate sects they hunted, but Csihehn was especially effective, failing to lose even a single fighter across the entire campaign.

The success meant promotions for many upon the completion of the operation and a return to Csilla. Miryura was among those who received recognition for her work and she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant near the end of Year 23.

Her service record had caught the attention of Prard`aga Rono, who at the time was the Patriarch of House Hzebi. Dagaro extended an invitation to House H`zebi and while Miryura felt somewhat disillusioned by the idea of joining another House so quickly after leaving her own, she realized that being without one was a difficult path to walk in Chiss society. With that in mind, Miryura accepted Dagaro’s proposal and joined H`zebi in Year 23.

Expanding Horizons
After securing their own space, the Ascendancy set out to expand their influence into the Lesser Space. Miryura’s squadron was assigned escort duties for freighters hauling key materials between Csilla and a new colony in Year 24 as part of Operation Travelkraft.

The work was far less exciting than the exploration of the Chaos, which came with both boons and banes. While oftentimes boring, it was also a welcome break from the stress of battle. With time to reflect, Miryura was somewhat surprised at how well she had handled being in live combat, though she recognized that she had been somewhat sheltered from the worst of it. After all, her squadron had suffered no losses and it was far easier to disassociate from the violence of her actions while in a cockpit.

Either way, the escort missions were a good change of pace. They also created more opportunities for Miryura to make connections both among the Chiss and in Lesser Space.

An early life exiled in the Chaos and even a reintegration into a larger galaxy had left few opportunities to interact with non-Chiss. With her knowledge largely relegated to what she had learned from her schooling and having not truly felt the full effects of the New Republic occupation of Csilla, her opinions towards aliens were mostly ambivalent.

However, that quickly changed, as she made the acquaintance of a number of denizens of the wider galaxy. While on an escort mission in Lesser Space, she met the leader of the Cantrell Conglomerate, Avelyn ca Vella, in a chance encounter and struck up a cordial relationship.

Later, while on shore leave on Csilla, she made the acquaintance of several beings of interest at the Vocehn, a famous Chiss nightclub. The enigmatic Thrall Lothbrok was among their number, the highly ranked Black Sun official on one of his many trips to the Csilla system in a ryll-infused stupor. Miryura also met the Mandalorian Jalen Kobar for the first time during the eventful evening. The hunter also made a distinct impression that would see the pair carry on a friendly relationship into the future.

Most impactful of the beings that Miryua would become acquainted with that evening were Obbic Rysta Leo and Xama-nie Taki. Obbic’rystal’leo, or Crystal, was an up-and-coming Chiss politician and Force sensitive who had retained her connection to the energy field long after most had lost it. Xama-nie Taki was an Alderaanian Imperial officer serving in the armor core and as a ground shock trooper. Crystal would soon join Miryura in House Hzebi at Dagaro’s invitation and Taki would prove to be one of Miryura’s most stalwart allies going forward.

By the end of Year 24, Miryura’s service in Lesser Space earned her further recognition and she eventually reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Service to the Ascendancy
Cult of the Infinite Empire
In Year 25, House Hzebi would become embroiled in an investigation into a mysterious cult looking to bring back the ancient Infinite Empire.

Miryura would find herself at the heart of this investigation, working together with Xama-nie Taki and Thrall Lothbrok to uncover the plot behind a heist conducted on behalf of the cult. It was during this investigation that Miryura also met the Black Sun’s Kira Morbus, an Anzati dark side force user who proved just as helpful to their work as she was dangerous. Together, the quartet was able to uncover that the cult was behind the theft and retrieve the stolen Spaarti crystals. They also discovered that the crystals were being stolen by a man named Aurelian Santori, who was looking to use them for some sort of weapon that would supposedly bring about the return of the Infinite Empire.

The how and why behind those aspirations was not made clear until months later in Year 26, when Miryura was called in to work on a special task force put together by the Grand Syndic Cong`liddo Nollaig himself. Taki, who had recently resigned from her post with the Empire and had been accepted into the Ascendancy and the CEDF for her demonstrated bravery on the behalf of the Chiss people, was also assigned to the operation.

Movements of the cult had been tracked to the remnants of Ch'itmon'o Csaplar (or Old Csaplar), a city that lay in the tunnels that lay beneath the current Csaplar. Gliddon, Taki and Miryura served as the advanced team to investigate the old tunnels and soon found much more than they were expecting. A splinter group of Chiss headed by Reius Rothchild and the exiled House Yar had taken up residence in the ruins and gathered several other exiled Houses to them. In a mad plan to recreate the Infinite Empire, the group aimed to utilize the Spaarti crystals to create Rakata clones and transfer their consciousness into them. Their plot was ultimately stopped, though how exactly the splinter group was going to accomplish their vague goals was never uncovered, nor was the exact motivation behind these actions.

Miryura’s work during the crisis seemingly did not go unnoticed by her superiors, as by the end of Year 26, she had been promoted to the rank of Senior Commander. It was also around this time that Crystal, who had since become head of House Hzebi after Dagaro had left to reform House Prard, extended an invitation - to be her Speaker. It was an appointment that caught Miryura by surprise; despite her parents’ intentions for her, she had no real world political experience and she had spent much of her adult life trying to escape that life. However, it was clear that her friend could use the assistance, so Miryura accepted, if somewhat reluctantly, with the intention of it only being temporary until Crystal had stabilized her position.

The Shownar Shockers and Galactic Shockball League Run
Near the end of Year 26, Miryura was approached by Gellert von Falkenstein, a wealthy Chiss in charge of the Lesser Space corporation Subduco Syndicate, with an offer. Von Falkenstein was putting together a team, the Shownar Shockers, for the new Galactic Shockball League being put together by Tholme So. Apparently, von Falkenstein had come across some footage of Miryura playing in the CEDF’s recreational shockball league and had seen something that he liked, offering her a contract to join the team. The Ascendancy, perhaps seeing this as a chance to show Chiss prowess to the wider galaxy, approved the leave necessary for Miryura to practice and compete with the team, which featured a number of prominent Chiss figures.

The Shockers struggled during early exhibition efforts, which proved frustrating to Miryura, both in her own performance and that of the team’s. Redoubling her efforts in practice and the film room, she began to stick out to von Falkenstein, who asked her to become the team’s player-manager.

width="250%" colspan="2" style="text-align: center;" |
width="250%" colspan="2" style="background-color: #0C3147; text-align: center;" | Miryura giving a press conference following the GSL Beta Season Finals

Taking to the new responsibility like she had her military commands, Miryura quickly revamped the team’s training regimens and practice structure, making them more regimented and with clearer goals in mind. She also adjusted the team’s strategy, relying largely on the strong defense of the team’s guards and speedy counter-attacks by herself and von Falkenstein on the wings.

The strategy seemed to work well and by the time the league entered the Beta Season, Shownar had worked themselves into a competitive state. That being said, they were still far from championship contenders, with the rival Colu Rebels clearly establishing themselves as the favorites.

Regardless, Shownar continued to show growth and, in particular, Miryura shined on offense. On Day 37 of Year 27, she reached 100 shooting accuracy according to the GSL’s analysis droids, the first player in the league to be rated 100 in any particular attribute. On Day 80 of Year 27, she reached 100 strength and became the first player to reach 100 in any two attributes. Her combination of speed, accuracy and strength gave her the ability to take on almost any defense and her strategies and training regimens seemed to be working wonders. They started dominating their competition, eventually even dealing the Colu Rebels their sole regular season defeat.

With an 18-1-1 record, Shownar took second place in the Outer Reaches Division. They had the second best record overall in their conference, but with the 19-1 Rebels in their same division, Shownar entered the playoffs as a wild card team. For her part, Miryura put together a 35 goal season, second only to the Rebels’ Caisava Chelski’s 51.

In the postseason, there was no scorer more prolific than Miryura, however, as she and the Shockers defeated the Asher Automatons and the Asation Outlaws to set up a date with Colu in the conference championship. There, Shownar swept the Rebels 3-0 and 1-0 to win the conference and move on to the finals.

Their opponents were the upstart Phu Fighters, who had rode a late season turnaround to cruise through the other half of the bracket. The Fighters were managed by a Nautolan by the name of Yakubu Fista, who Miryura had gotten to know over the course of the season as they exchanged thoughts about the game and strategy.

In the end, it was Fista’s Fighters that proved to be the best team in the league, sweeping the Shockers in straight games to win the GSL Championship. Miryura ended the postseason as the leading scorer but was held without a goal in the finals as Phu’s relentless attack proved too much for the Shockers' more standard approach to handle. They fell 2-0 in both games.

The Endless Grove Incident
((Under construction))

Operation Outer Vigil
width="250%" colspan="2" style="text-align: center;" |
width="250%" colspan="2" style="background-color: #0C3147; text-align: center;" | Miryura boarding her Toscan during Operation Outer Vigil

Miryura did not have much time to absorb the Grove incident, however, as at the beginning of Year 27 the Ascendancy launched its most extensive campaign into Lesser Space since retaking Csilla.

Working with Imperial Union allies, the Ascendancy would assist the Hydian Expanse in the securing of the Khuiumin system from the clutches of the Shadow Dominion. By the time Ascendancy forces arrived, the Dominion forces had already been defeated, leaving the Chiss to serve as part of the blockade of the system.

However, aiding the Hydian Expanse secure Khuiumin was far from the only objective of the operation. Once concluded, the Ascendancy forces joined their IU allies in assaulting the Arvala system held by the Rebel Alliance and their allies.

Before this conflict, Miryura and her wing had largely flown against undertrained pirates using old technology in the Unknown Regions. Facing off against the well-funded Rebellion was a completely different situation and simulators could only do so much to prepare Miryura and those under her command for the situation. While the Chiss and their allies more than held their own in the ensuing battle, taking key positions in the system and wreaking havoc upon the Rebel fortifications, they also took their fair share of damage. For the first time in her military career, Miryura’s Csihehn Squadron took losses. Two of the members she was closest with, Ellianna and Pravos, were marked as KIA following the conflict..

The campaign expanded to the Altor system, where Ascendancy and other IU forces squared off against Total Outer Rim and other Rebel factions who had recently moved to take over the system for themselves. Low on supplies and ships after the Arvala incursion, the IU forces could not do more poke and prod at the now entrenched Rebel defenders. Though Csihehn suffered no further casualties in the conflict, the losses suffered at Arvala continued to eat away at Miryura.

Ascendancy leadership, pleased with the outcome of the campaign, ordered the CEDF forces to return following a week at Altor.

New Political Ambitions
While the Outer Vigil campaign was praised as a success, it was a conflicting event for Miryura. For the first time since she had joined the CEDF, Miryura was left questioning whether her actions had truly been in the best interests of the Chiss people. CEDF doctrine states that theirs is a mission not to seek conflict nor conquest, but to maintain the sovereignty of Csilla and explore the unknown. How did a campaign taking them as far away from Chiss Space fall within those guidelines? And even if it did, was it worth the cost?

There were no easy answers for Miryura. The loss of two of her closest comrades left her questioning not only her own command, but also her own ideals were still being reflected in the CEDF’s mission to keep and secure the safety of Chiss Space.

This, coupled with the revelations found during the Endless Grove incident, force Miryura to make a choice. She could either continue to avoid the responsibility that sat before her or take action. In the end, there really was no option at all; she would not only need to better herself, but also be part of the change she wished to see. To ensure that any Chiss sacrifice made was indeed for the good of their people and not merely to please outside forces. While it may take her to some uncomfortable places, there was only one way to meet the lofty goals that Miryura had set for herself, and she could not allow them to go unanswered any longer. A fire had been lit within her and suddenly new ambitions took hold.

A Rapid Ascension
Between the success of the GSL team and the outcomes of both the Endless Grove Incident and Operation Outer Vigil, Miryura had quickly garnered far more attention than an average Senior Commander might otherwise. With such a combination came a flurry of promotions that far outstripped even her own past accelerated rise through the ranks.

An offer soon came from the Grand Syndic himself; to take on the position as Director of the Chiss Military-Industrial Complex and oversee the Ascendancy’s Colonial Affairs. Before the Grove and the Outer Vigil campaign, Miryura would have politely declined such an invitation, but with newfound aspirations and ambitions, it seemed the perfect opportunity. While she would remain a reserve in the CEDF, she would no longer hold her military rank nor her command. Instead, Miryura embarked onto a new battlefield, that of Chiss politics and corporate diplomacy.

It was the life that her mother had attempted to set her upon, and, because of that schooling in her early life, the transition was not as difficult as it could have been. Her time spent working with well respected members of the Chiss aristocracy, such as Mechna Yerikov, Pursodal Nuruodo, Dagaro and the Grand Syndic himself also gave her a leg up in a realm that she would have otherwise been ally-less.

Still, Miryura’s general distaste for such politicking and lack of experience certainly did not make things easy either. While she had some working knowledge of logistics from her time with House Azumi’s shipping company, navigating the responsibilities that came with directing the Ascendancy’s mining and production was a far more complex task. Additionally, when it came to navigating the web of corporate dealings and House politics, there were lengths she was unwilling to go to, leaving her potentially exposed to foes who held no such qualms.

In the end, whether it was determination or luck that ultimately turned the scales in her favor, Miryura was able to make the transition from the military life she had led for years to one where was making decisions that would affect the whole of the Ascendancy. Under the first few months of her direction, mining and production across the Csilla system saw an increase in efficiency and output and many of her early detractors quickly lost any footing they had to stand upon.

It was also during this time that Miryura took a greater role in the politics of House Hzebi. While Crystal had given her the title of Speaker, Miryura’s time away from Csilla had meant that fulfilling those duties largely revolved around silently standing in on Council of Family meetings via hologram. However, Crystal suddenly disappeared on what she had only described as a personal mission early in Year 27, leaving most of the responsibilities of running House Hzebi to Miryura and a handful of others. For many intents and purposes, Miryura had become the de facto leader of House Hzebi for a vast majority of Year 27, heading both internal affairs and working as their representative on the Council of Families.

It was through this work that Miryura met and got to know the head of House Csapla, Csapla'ndre'saeni, who was looking to reobtain her House’s recognition and standing within the Council of Families. Miryura was a stalwart ally for Andresa and Csapla during this time and going forward.

Miryura also made the acquaintance of a Chiss scientist named Dasklo’rif’antas, a member of House Hzebi and a member of the Ascendancy’s Colonial Affairs, who she came to know and respect during her work both as Director and Speaker. Klorifan quickly became a trusted ally, especially in the realm of Miryura’s work with Colonial Affairs, where Miryura came to rely on for his knowledge and dependability.

Miryura’s squadron was assigned escort duties for freighters hauling key materials between Csilla and a new colony.
