Nangwayo Tau, one of the genetic templates for the 39th Dragoons
Unit History
The 39th Dragoons, also known as the "Ravinaks", were birthed from the first ever non-human Clone Wars veteran templates Ternion Corps had worked with. Cloned under direct supervision of Colonel Paul Luz, the unit was cloned from four individual templates. One is based on a viable genetic sample of a deceased gengh-noghri commando who died in battle and the three additional genetic samples are from his three living brothers who fought with him. Notably a Gengh-Noghri Operative, a Gengh-Noghri Grenadier, a Gengh-Noghri Heavy Weapons Specialist, and a Gengh-Noghri Scout.
All of these first-generation clones were grown in Spaarti cylinders and recieved flash training from their donors. The Noghri clones also received extensive additional training with other clone commando units to extend their knowledge base and versatility in the Ternion Corps academy. They use the prefix "CTN" before their number designator, signifying their non-human origin- a designation in which they take much pride. Other Ternion units were hesitant to work with the Ravinaks at first, but the reluctance was quickly dismissed after other clones witnessed their effectiveness in battle when they infiltrated the elite Naval Infantry of the Sith Imperium Fleet during Operation Appropriation, under command of Fleet Commander Tau.
They operate in four- or six-man teams who deploy with sensor beacons as a part of their mainstay equipment loadout. Their main functions are conducting small-unit special operation missions and fire support coordination, spotting targets for orbital bombardment, direct naval gunfire, fighter/bombers and artillery units. As forward observer/scouts, they are equipped for deep reconnaissance, assisting in training indigenous resistance cells, and many other forms of guerrilla warfare. Due to the nature of their missions, they are rarely in the spotlight, and that suits them fine. Just like their motto.
