Alenna Orus is a female Human-Miraluka hybrid from the Mid-Rim planet of Lorahns. After leaving her homeworld in 26 CGT, she became a traveller and explorer, seeking to expand her knowledge and understanding of the inner workings of the galaxy after growing up in an insular society that had ostracised her for years due to her hybrid status. Yet, missing a sense of belonging and community, she now seeks a worthy cause to devote herself to.

Biography

Family origins (Pre-4 CGT)

The Orus family is a venerable Miraluka bloodline that dates far back into the days of the Old Republic era. Originally hailing from their people’s adopted homeworld of Alpheridies, members of the family would often find themselves leaving the confines of their home to join the wider galactic community. Many became scholars, diplomats, and scientists, aligning themselves with the interests of the Galactic Republic, while a handful found their innate connection to the Force stronger than their peers and trained to become Jedi, fighting the evils of the ancient Sith Empire.

Family tales indicate that around the time of the Great Galactic War, nearly four millennia ago, the Force flowed especially strongly in one branch of the Orus family, leading to the births of several Force Sensitive individuals. Yet, after a number of generations, that connection waned again, and the offspring of that particular line returned to more regular lives.

As a result of their seemingly innate wanderlust, members of the Orus family became scattered across the galactic plane, splitting off into various branches. Some of these lines were open to unions with Humans and other Near-Humans, leading to the birth of hybrid children. Other branches clung to more conservative customs, growing insular and distrustful of outside influence.

One such branch made their home within a small Miraluka colony on Lorahns, a planet located in the Sloo sector of the Mid-Rim, where—along with like-minded members of their species—they established an isolated society.

Early life (4 CGT - 26 CGT)

In 4 CGT, Alenna was born within the small Miraluka colony on Lorahns as the only child of Ylene Orus, a Miraluka woman who had once abandoned her family home to explore the galaxy. During her travels, Ylene formed a romantic relationship with a Human male named Kaen Vardo, and the two journeyed together across the stars. Yet, shortly after she announced her pregnancy, Kaen abandoned her, unwilling to accept the responsibilities of fatherhood.

With nowhere else to turn, Ylene returned to her family and the community she had once left behind. Her kin reluctantly accepted her return, believing she had been tainted by outside influences, especially given her union with a Human. As a result, even before she was born, Alenna was viewed with suspicion and disapproval by her family and elders.

Raised according to the ancient customs and traditions of the Miraluka, Alenna was born with eyes—a result of her Human heritage—yet remained effectively blind due to her Miraluka physiology. Like others of her species, she was able to perceive the world through the unique innate gift that the Miraluka possessed, though the presence of her eyes set her apart. In a community where even the vestigial eye sockets of the pureblooded were concealed beneath traditional headgear or blindfolds, Alenna’s difference was plain to all, regardless of her efforts to hide it. Though she wore the customary Miraluka veil, everyone around her knew of her mixed heritage. From a young age, she was subjected to ostracism and scrutiny, forced to work twice as hard for every small measure of recognition or validation as a result.

Inspired by the stories her mother told of distant stars and strange cultures, Alenna developed the same wanderlust her ancestors had once embraced. She pursued skills her peers typically eschewed, such as computer operations, starship piloting—assisted by specialized interfaces designed for Miraluka—and the use of weaponry. She also trained in hunting, honing a quiet precision and self-sufficiency that would one day serve her well.

Her bond with her mother grew strong, a shared connection forged through isolation and mutual understanding. While the rest of the community kept them at arm’s length, they found solace in one another. The outside galaxy, with all its chaos and uncertainty, seemed a promise of freedom compared to the stifling rigidity of their colony.

In 25 CGT, Ylene fell ill with a disease that, under normal circumstances, would have been easily treatable. But the Miraluka colony’s rejection of outside aid or technology sealed her fate. Refusing to allow any offworld medical assistance, the community’s traditional healers were unable to stop the disease’s progression. By the end of the following year, Ylene succumbed to the illness.

Her death—a direct consequence of the colony’s isolationism—shattered what little faith Alenna had left in her people. Years of resentment and quiet frustration finally surged to the surface. In the wake of Ylene’s funeral, harsh words were exchanged. Accusations of callousness, disrespect, and ingratitude flew on both sides, severing the last threads binding Alenna to her community.

With her decision made, she packed her few belongings and left her family home behind. She journeyed to the nearest spaceport city on Lorahns, working odd jobs over the next few weeks to gather enough credits for offworld passage.

In Year 26, Alenna Orus left the only life she had ever known, not out of rebellion or recklessness, but out of conviction and necessity. The galaxy awaited—and with it, perhaps, the chance to find the belonging she had never known.

Into the galaxy (26 CGT - Present)

Upon leaving Lorahns behind, Alenna made her way to Tatooine after she had caught wind of the Swap Meet hosted by the Jawas taking place there. Gauging it as a perfect opportunity to acquaint herself with the wider galaxy, she arrived with a quiet sense of excitement that dampened much of the inner turmoil she still felt in the wake of her tumultuous departure from her homeworld.

Over the following days, Alenna would peruse the various items that were put up for sale or trade brought to the desert world of Tatooine from all corners of the galaxy. It was during this time that she had managed to land a deal on a second-hand YT-2000 light freighter called the Whispered Song. Thus, like her mother had before her, Alenna had secured her means of exploring the galaxy on her own accord.

While on Tatooine, Alenna encountered a fellow Miraluka called Danim Avas who had gotten himself into trouble with local traders accusing him of trying to swindle them. While she was able to save Danim from harm, he had lost much of his belongings and financial means as a result. Grateful for her help nonetheless, the two stuck together over the course of the Swap Meet and befriended each other. Knowing his precarious situation, Alenna offered Danim to travel with her aboard the Whispered Song as her co-pilot, an offer he graciously accepted. Shortly thereafter, the two departed Tatooine.

Personality

Shaped by years of quiet isolation and silent resistance, Alenna Orus is a woman of introspective thought and unshakable resolve. The years spent on Lorahns, surrounded by mistrust and silence, taught her the value of listening before speaking, and thinking before acting. Her words are measured, her presence subdued, but beneath the stillness lies a mind constantly turning—curious, observant, and attuned to the unspoken currents of the world around her. She does not seek attention, but rarely goes unnoticed; her restraint is not born of uncertainty, but of self-discipline.

There is a wound at the heart of Alenna’s quiet strength—a lifetime of being othered by those who should have been her own. Though she bears it with grace, it has left its mark. She has little patience for hollow traditions or inherited prejudice, and even less for those who wield authority without purpose. Yet, her experiences have not made her bitter. Rather, they have instilled in her a deep empathy for outsiders and those forced to live on the margins, along with a guarded but enduring hope that there is a place for her somewhere in the wider galaxy.

Curiosity is her constant companion. It drives her to understand, to explore, and to uncover what lies beyond the next star or behind the next locked door. From history and technology to languages and belief systems, she seeks knowledge not only to equip herself, but to make sense of a galaxy that has never offered her clear answers. She does not fear the unknown—in many ways, it is the only home she has ever trusted.

Though she rarely shows her hand, Alenna is undeniably driven. Her motivations are not always spoken aloud, even to herself, but they push her forward with steady determination. She is not content to wander aimlessly; she is searching—for purpose, for belonging, perhaps for something yet unnamed. What she lacks in certainty, she makes up for in resilience.

Despite her estrangement from the society that raised her, Alenna still holds on to fragments of her Miraluka heritage—not out of loyalty to the people who cast her aside, but as a quiet act of remembrance. She continues to wear the traditional Miraluka blindfold, not out of necessity, but as a symbol of her connection to her mother, a bond she refuses to let fade. In this way, she carries her past with her—not as a burden, but as a part of who she is, and who she is becoming.

Appearance

Alenna Orus possesses a quiet, dignified beauty—refined, yet unassuming. Standing at 1.79 meters, she carries herself with an effortless grace, her bearing shaped as much by years of careful observation as by the traditions of the people who raised her. Her build is slim, tending toward the endomorphic, with subtle curves and a natural softness that lend her a grounded, human warmth despite her often reserved demeanor.

Her skin is fair, untouched by the sun of her homeworld’s secluded forests, and her dark brown hair falls in soft, deliberate waves, often left loose or woven into modest braids that frame her face with understated elegance. There is a softness to her features—cheekbones gently sculpted, lips naturally full, and a calm expression that rarely betrays the turmoil of her inner world.

Though born with eyes, a result of her Human lineage, they are non-functional—rendered blind by the influence of her Miraluka heritage. As with others of her kind, she perceives the world through the innate gift bestowed upon them, and like the Miraluka do with their vestigial eye sockets, she chooses to conceal her blind eyes behind a traditional blindfold. Alenna wears it not out of necessity alone, but as a symbol of her connection to her late mother and the heritage she still honors. The blindfold varies with occasion and attire, often woven from deep, jewel-toned fabrics and marked with delicate embroidered patterns native to her people’s customs. It is as much a part of her presence as the way she speaks or stands—a quiet declaration of identity in a galaxy that has too often questioned it.

Her clothing blends function and tradition. While travelling, she prefers practical attire—simple tunics, reinforced boots, and fitted jackets tailored for movement and survival. Yet when circumstance calls for something more formal, she is not without taste; her upbringing among a conservative Miraluka society instilled in her an appreciation for garments that are both elegant and symbolic. In such moments, she wears robes or dresses in darker colours like burgundy or dark blue with subtle bronze accents and flowing cuts, garments that speak to the restrained artistry of her people’s colony on Lorahns and the quiet resilience of her lineage.
