Category talk:Organisations founded pre-Combine
I prefer this category to the 'new' one. Orphaea Imperium 12:04, 23 May 2011 (GMT)
- Is it not an OOC term? I know you've tried to re-define it. But I have never heard anyone else use it in the same way as you did, nor do I think that it found magnus consensus amongst other contributors or combiners. We do however wander in different circles and may use different terminology. --Xanyarr Chyakk 15:28, 23 May 2011 (GMT)
- I really don't know if anyone's even looked at the dating system stuff I wrote. I prefer 'pre-Combine' over 'before Year 0' because:
- I think it sounds better and fits in better with the others;
- It does propagate in a small way the definition of 'Combine' in an IC sense, which is something that I think will save us a lot of trouble in the future (if we can come up with an IC meaning that's largely consistent with its OOC meaning, there'll be less IC/OOC conflict stuff to worry about).
- Regardless, I have heard 'pre-Combine' or 'before Combine' more often than 'before year 0' when talking about history. Orphaea Imperium 23:29, 24 May 2011 (GMT)
- Of course you would hear 'pre-Combine' or 'before Combine' when people talk about history, because 99.99% of the time people talk about it from OOC-perspective. I understand your desire to make the term more IC, but where does it stop? Will SWSIM, ICIS, HoloCom and Darkness all suddenly become historic time periods? --Xanyarr Chyakk 19:58, 25 May 2011 (GMT)
