History
Origins
The Chiss Society was started in Year 7 as a community to bring together the Chiss People. One of its earliest leaders was Kamm`aldui` Nakesh, then Aristocra of House Nakesh. Malduin's efforts recruited a dedicated core of Chiss, and inspired the community in the years that followed. The goal had been the revival of the Chiss Ascendancy. House Nakesh records reveal that Nakesh Alliance Extractions was founded with this goal in mind.
This was not to be, as Malduin was betrayed by his cousins Toras`kaar` Nakesh(Askaarn) and Miras`eli` Nakesh(Selina). Malduin left for the Unknown Regions in frustration, while Askaarn and Selina Usurped leadership of House Nakesh.
During this time, leadership of the Chiss Society fell to Volk`Naast` Rono, who managed to hold the community together through a policy of political neutrality and an emphasis on trade.
Transition
Carn`ilo` Sabosen and Flar Gar led the call for increased activity on behalf of the Chiss Society. Capital was gathered to found the first economic venture of the Chiss Society, the Chiss Ascendancy Medical Corproation(see:Chiss Ascendancy (Year 10)).
The support of the Chiss Society for the Chiss Ascendancy began to fall apart after Volk withdrew his support when Flar Gar accused Dac Kain, a friend of Volk's, of being a scammer.
The final blow was struck by betrayal. This betrayal began when Sye Montaris looted Chiss Expeditionary Defense Force, of which Chiss Ascendancy (Medical Corporation) had invested capital(Montaris would be acquitted of the charges almost two years later due to the assets being his). The attempt was however successfully predicted and countered. Sabosen and the Chiss council decided to dissolve Chiss Ascendancy as a medical corporation.
An Exilrate
Carn`ilo` Sabosen attempted to salvage the community rocked by the Sye's Revolt by reorganizing the community, and referring to the Chiss Ascendancy as an Exilrate, or Government in Exile. This declaration ironically sowed the seeds of an ideological divide. The reason being the implication of whether this government in exile planned to return to their home, and under what terms.
Economic Development and Culture Reform
During this time Sabosen led the call for reforms within the Chiss Society to encourage cultural development, even renaming the group from its name of Chiss Society to the Chiss Ascendancy.
After the matter was resolved, Flar Gar, Nilos, and others were successful in coordinating capital and community interest to found a new economic venture, Chiss Material Extractions.
During this time, the Chiss Ascendancy adopted a radical philosophy which called for the reclamation of their homeworld. It joined an alliance of other Non-Human Racial Communities, the Council of Native Races.
It was this action which convinced Gar to replace Nilos as leader of Chiss Material Extractions and declare it independent from Chiss Ascendancy.
Eventually, an ideological split would convince Sabosen to change the group to the Chiss Ascendancy-in-Exile. This name came into use officially to differentiate itself from The Chiss Ascendancy

Legacy
The Chiss Society has the distinction of being one of the oldest Racial Associations in the galaxy. Over the years, especially during the civil dispute between Chiss Ascendancy-in-Exile and The Chiss Ascendancy, members on both sides who had been in the Chiss Society would look back on that time fondly.
