Description
An ice world that would make Hoth look positively tropic, Csilla is the homeworld of the blue-skinned race. On Csilla, the Chiss live under the ice to escape the bitter cold of the surface. Even so, heating is required and they use classically Chiss technology to do this as efficiently as possible. Most of the hallways and vast corridors through the ice are natural products of glacier flow.
History
Sometime around 27,500 BBY, Humans arrived on Csilla in a sleeper ship and colonized the planet[1]. The planet entered an ice age in 5,000 BBY. Glaciers covered the normally-warm equatorial regions of the planet, while solid ice locked the poles in perpetual winter. In order to survive, the Chiss built energy-efficient warrens beneath the ice, as close to the warmth of the inner planet as possible, with underground carriage travel routes to connect the various underground sections of Csilla. The iceways were bored through the bedrock of the planet, so that they were unaffected by the shifting ice found on the planet's surface[1].
Locked in an ice age for millennia, Csilla forced many socioeconomic and technological changes upon the Chiss, but few physical changes. Contrary to beliefs in a link between the Chiss skin color and the Csillan temperature, scientists concluded that the Chiss’ blue skin was caused by a mineral found in the Csillan hydrosphere[1].
Csilla was the capital of the Chiss Ascendancy. It was also home to the Expeditionary Library[1].
In recent history the first organisation to control Csilla was the 12 Colonies who eventually reformed into the Chiss Ascendancy.
A New Republic offensive into the Unknown Regions resulted in the Battle of Csilla which briefly partitioned the planet until Year 12. By Year 20, Csilla was once again under the control of the Chiss Ascendancy as a result of the The War for the Republic
Notable Locations
As`ciel
Ac’siel is a booming city geographically located in the heart of Csilla, but for many years it remained a mystery to outsiders what drove the city to rival the Chiss capital of Csaplar after the near total collapse of the Chiss Ascendancy in the aftermath of the Five Year War.
The Five Year War brought devastating economic impact to the entire sector. Chiss families, without a central government to support, rerouted their monetary resources to their families and close associates. This shift in the flow of goods left minor families without a vast expanse of influence to fend for themselves.
The CEDF remained one of the only familiar government structures that did not fall entirely.. Although the CEDF was able to maintain its integrity, some unorthodox decisions had to be made to keep it afloat. One of the measures taken was the conversion of their headquarters located in Ac’siel into a public starport. This secured some import taxes from offworld traders, while alleviating the Chiss citizen from this burden, but also facilitated the import of much needed goods for the general population.
While measures taken by the CEDF are seen as positive, some argue that it was reckless due to the minimal staffing CEDF was able to provide to the city, especially the critical starport. Illegal goods bearing seals of galactic criminal organizations like Black Nebula and The Damned started to appear shortly after. First, these goods were found during targeted raids after long investigations, but it wasn’t long before every non-Chiss was seen as suspect.
By Year 7, direct administration of the city had been turned over to a coaltion of Chiss Families, with each family overseeing an aspect of the city's operation. One family controlls the city utilities, another all Gaming, another the Spaceport, another Construction and Renovation, and yet another oversees the Tunnel Market(that involves trade with the rest of Csilla's tunnel communities).
K`eb/Nuz Bazan
The city began as a The Damned outpost that was never completed. Tara Tylger sold the city to House Sabosen and would eventually be owned by House Yar. By Year 21, K`eb would be known as Nuz Bazan(New Beginnings). It Contains the old House Yar Palace and a CEDF Training Academy, along with a full infrastructure of facilities and a thriving tourism and hospitality industry.
