Description

Lannik is found along the border between the Mid Rim and the Expansion Region. It is a habitable planet with enormous untrespassed jungles and many unexploted natural resources. Among the native fauna the flejj beast is noted. Apart from this predator, Lannik has breeded other species, including sentient humanoid creatures called Lannik. The planet, and its sentient inhabitants, was discovered not too long ago by Duro colonists, which brought developed tecnology to the Lannik. The discussions between the Lannik authorities on what to trade in exchange for this technology opened the planet to pirates, and finally caused the Galactic Republic to restrict the amount of technology exported to the planet. This only made criminal groups stronger, and caused the planet to suffer several decades of turmoil when a group of terrorists known as the Red Iaro tried to overthrow the existing monarch and his government. The conflict ended decades ago, leaving the planet in a state of uneasiness and isolation for years, which continues until now.

Unlike most other Republic planets, the considerable natural resources and mineral wealth of Lannik were largely unmined and unexploited, making it a tempting prize for enterprising would-be manipulators. [1]
