The Modified Star Ranger was a light freighter of unique design. It was designed at the Babylon 6 research station in the Lorell system - and built at an undisclosed location - by Choibacco Antaria in early Year 5. The Wookiee drew on his recent experience from overseeing the development of new Hapan craft such as the Hetrinar Assault Bomber and Battle Dragon, as well as his success in helping restore the salvaged Supremacy-class Attack Ship mere months earlier. Originally intended as a prototype for a line of Antarian Ranger space craft as Choibacco's corporation shifted focus to become a paramilitary organisation aimed at combating the criminal underworld, the design never saw mass production. The original prototype, named the Star of Antaria, was later modified and fitted with a purple-pink paint job that made it a eye-catching sight on the space lanes. With an impressive armament for a ship of its size, as well as its powerful engines, the Star Ranger was utilised as the personal transport of Choibacco, who led his organisation from a sluggish Lucrehulk 3210 Battleship called White Star. Following numerous attempts at retiring - combined with the disheartening actions of several dishonest successors within the Antarian Rangers - Choibacco piloted the Star of Antaria into a star, killing himself and destroying the ship some time in the period Year 6-Year 7.
