Ngomlilo

Ngomlilo is one of The Cardinal Swords of Tau. The sword was forged by the master Bladesmith Sekou Tau himself and embodies the essence of fire.

Forging

Ngomlilo was forged fourth among the Cardinal Swords. Master-smith Tau embodied Ngomlilo with the essence of the fire.This essence is one of the easier ones to forge, but easy is relative when it comes to the Cardinal Swords. Parts of this essence are unknown, but the essence of flame and heat are leaned on heavily. The flame from the forge embodies the blade, causing it to glow gently in the dark. This essence of flame gives the blade an added combat advantage. When Ngomlilo is swung through the air, it generates flame, lighting the darkness and partially blinding opponents. Upon connecting with an object or sentient, it does burn damage as well as the slicing effect of the blade. Ngomlilo also has the ability to generate heat. In combat, it can superheat opponents blades and armor, causing horrific burns. Due to the care that is required to avoid being burned the forging process was over a month in length.

Battle-testing and Ownership

Upon the completion of the forging process, the sword is turned over to a Var Kelen high priest. This priest endows it with special Force powers, unique to the Cardinal Swords. Once this was done, an acolyte field tests the weapon, ensuring that it was of sufficient caliber to be sold. Ngomlilo underwent one of the most creative of the trials. The acolyte charged with testing it went out in search of a herd of Bantha. Once found, the acolyte used the sword to start a brush fire, causing the Bantha to stampede. This accomplished, the acolyte manuevered in front of the stampeding herd, and cut a path through the charging herd, killing dozens of Bantha. Having passed the combat testing, Ngomlilo was placed on the market, but not just to anyone. The Cardinal Swords are priced to be for those who understand their true value and will thus put them to good use. Ngomlilo was purchased by Hawke Tanor. As it bonded to his personality, Ngomlilo change color, turning a deep crimson red.
