StarSpeeder 3000
As the Galactic Republic stretched its reach outward to the Galactic Core and into the outer rim territories, the demand for ships to support planetary tours and facilitate the needs of wealthy jet-setters sky rocketed. The result of the galaxy's need for a luxury passenger transport came in the form of the hastily designed StarSpeeder 3000.
Although considered to be quite outdated, and almost retro, the ship's primary mechanics still hold up adequately when compared to today's fresh production line. As a result of its hasty design, the ship essentially consists of the retro fitted engines of the more popular light freighters of the time and a rather creative exterior.
Being only slightly larger than the now popular Drop Ship Transport, it comes as no surprise that the StarSpeeder is quite cramped. With a passenger capacity of 40, an uncomfortable interior and the option of droid piloting, you can be forgiven for passing up the opportunity to travel in one of these. The idea of on-board access to local media services was first implemented on this craft, but disappointingly, in a very primitive way. Usage of this ship slowly faded out, as more comfortable ships with cheaper running costs came into use around the galaxy. The mass production of the C-3 Passenger Liner finally sealed the fate of the StarSpeeder. With the C-3 being larger and far more luxurious as a whole, this left the StarSpeeder’s producers with no choice but to put the ship into retirement.
