The Star Galleon-class Frigate is the equivalent of a brick in space. It is slow, large and its sensors are such that it is effectively blind beyond its own location. It is however, well armed against freighters and corvettes and is equipped with a single tractor beam to increase the accuracy of its firepower.
The standard workhorse of the Empire, hundreds of these ply the travel lanes carrying materials for construction projects around the galaxy. Though it requires an escort to protect it from raiders, it has a enormously large amount of storage space for vehicles and materials, and it is in space that the Star Galleon-class Frigate is most useful. Each load that a Galleon brings to a planet can contain equipment to set up an entire city as well as the workers to build it, and an entire planet can be colonized in a matter of weeks compared to smaller and faster freighters.
