The Alysia Orchid is a special, one of a kind flower bred for the sole purpose of being given as a gift. This little gem is not seen in nature, and is found only in the flower gardens of Alysia Kain.

Taxonomy

The Alysia Orchid is a hybrid variant of Orkidea tegeirian and O. archideja. Both parent specimens were obtained by herbalist and naturalist Dobbs Mottley during one of his innumerable trips into the wilderness hunting plants. Upon bringing these plants back out of the wilderness, Dobbs' benefactor, Alysia Kain, took an interest in them. She happened to mention how nice they looked together. This got Dobbs thinking. After several months of attempts, he was able to successfully produce viable hybrid seedling plants. He was able to combine the flowering stalk of O. tegeirian with the exoctic purple, green and white blossoms of O. archideja. The result was a gloriously flowering hybrid. Alysia Kain was immediately smitten. As thanks for her support on his adventures, Dobbs gifted the Orchid named for Alysia, to her.

Gardening and Uses

The Alysia Orchid has never been sold to the public. As such, gardening enthusiasts should not anticipate using this gorgeous flower in their gardens in the near future. However, should it ever make an appearance, expect it to be an excellent spring and early summer edging plant. The flowers help distract from any unsightly edges or corners and give a bright, cheerful appearance to any garden. Since it is a hybrid, any commercial use is unknown at this time. Further research is underway.
