Yakubu Fista is a Nautolan warrior, political leader, and professional shockball captain. Born on Glee Anselm, he rose from rural obscurity to become a leading advocate for non-human solidarity and the reinstated commander of the Rak'Qua warrior clan within the Nautolan Society.

Early Life

Yak in the swamps as a teenager

Yakubu Fista was born to a poor family on Glee Anselm. The son of Aiyegbeni and Lunlufe Fista. Around his 6th birthday his family moved from the city to the rural swamps, to avoid capture. It was here he began a life amongst nature developing a love for his new found home. Yakubu was very proud of his species; any bad word directed at his people and he was quick to defend them. Living among many Anselmi, the species that the Nautolan shared Glee Anselm with, he got a lot of fighting experience. He became known as a zealous defender of his people, who while friendly to most, was known be harsh to Anselmi, causing many issues between the two species of his swamp area. It was decided eventually for the young Nautolan to leave in pursuit of trainning and development away from the threat of enslavement. Soon after, he decided that the greatest issue of the world was not Anselmi against Nautolan, but the struggles of non-humans in a "Human" centered galaxy. This further radicalised him, especially towards Aleena, Chadra-Fan, Gamorrean, Jawas, Whiphid and Wookiee who he in particular grew an attachment to.

Tresario Star Kingdom

After weeks of wandering, Yakubu Fista drifted into Tresarian space and enrolled at the University of Tresario, seeking direction and formal training. Upon graduation he was assigned to the Anzat Core Fleet under the command of Fooj Iwajo, serving alongside a tight‑knit crew that would shape much of his early career. During this period he underwent a cybernetic enhancement procedure performed by Spree Razzix, receiving a Cyborg Ranged Combat Unit implant in his left eye to refine his battlefield awareness and make him a more formidable soldier. Within the Tresario Star Kingdom he quickly became known as an outspoken but committed community member, balancing his radical non‑human advocacy with diligent service in the fleet.

During his time with Tresario, Yakubu diversified his activities beyond frontline duties. He joined the Kingdom’s shockball side, representing Tresario in early league competitions, and became a columnist for the Tresarian Dawn with an advice column titled Yak Ask. Seeking a different way to contribute to the Kingdom’s growth, he later transferred to the Tresario Salvage Yards, exchanging his role as a soldier for work in recycling, salvage, and demolition operations.

By early Year 21, emerging concerns surrounding the Nautolan Society—including a promising lead on the disappearance of its former leader Siejo Kutol—drew Yakubu’s attention away from Tresario. Compelled by his loyalty to his people and the mystery surrounding their organisation, he left the Kingdom to pursue these Nautolan matters in earnest.

Nautolan Society

Leaving his swamp home on Glee Anselm, Yakubu Fista set out in search of the missing leaders of the dormant Nautolan Society, most notably Siejo Kutol. When he finally located the reluctant former head of the Society, Yakubu undertook a series of missions to help restore the fractured organisation.

With Yakubu’s support, Siejo convened the scattered Nautolan clans and was re‑elected leader of the Society and head of the Diplomatic Clan. At Yakubu’s urging, the warrior clan Rak'Qua was reinstated, its leadership decided by ritual combat. Yakubu defeated George O Rourke to claim command of the clan, earning Siejo’s public vow of confidence and cementing his role as the Society’s foremost warrior, leading Rak'Qua in battle on behalf of the Nautolan Society.

Recognising that the Society still lacked its spiritual core, Yakubu and Siejo launched a search for Master Sion Plagueis, the absent religious leader. Their efforts culminated in Sion’s return and his assumption of leadership over the Society’s newly formalised religious branch.

Year 21 Day 80, Yakubu leading the Rak'Qua, backed by Siejo and the Nautolan Society, protest the XXX Miners and their treatment of Nautolans on Glee Anselm with a blockade. [1]

On Year 21 Day 95, acting under the authority of Siejo and Master Sion, Yakubu oversaw the creation of a new base of operations on Glee Anselm in the city of Sankturiam as well as reclamation of his place of birth Igboyabarakanu. Central to this achievement was a landmark agreement between the Society and the XXX Miners, brokered by Siejo with their representative Clarr Solo. The pact secured the construction of Fista Stadium—a shockball arena bearing Yakubu’s name—and marked the beginning of a tentative peace between the industrial mining interests that controlled Glee Anselm and the resurgent Nautolan Society, firmly re‑establishing the Society’s legitimacy in the galactic community.

Galactic Shockball Career

Originally a member of the Calaron Razors, Yakubu Fista first came to wider galactic attention as a rugged defensive presence before, in Year 18, joining the would-be champions, the Stensen Sandcrawlers. He spent two seasons with the Sandcrawlers prior to the league’s dissolution, forming a formidable partnership with top scorer and then-teammate Wrrlnik Speturra.

Following the collapse of the league, Yakubu withdrew from the sport entirely, stepping away from professional shockball for several years. Nearly a decade later, he received an unexpected alert via the galactic news network announcing that a new season of shockball would begin in five days. With almost no time to prepare and years removed from competitive play, Yakubu rushed to secure a roster spot and return to the game he had once excelled at.

On Year 26 Day 358, a news article confirmed that the former owner and coach of the Stensen Sandcrawlers, Tholme So, now served as league commissioner and owner, marking a surprising link to Yakubu’s past career. Just five days later, on Day 363, Yakubu made his long-awaited return to the arena, debuting as a noticeably rusty and out-of-form player.

Yakubu was signed by controversial shockball owner Bouma Ga`Mon of the Phu Fighters, a club based in the Phu sector and heavily associated with the megacorporation Mecrotica Conglomerate. The Fighters had already secured the signature of former Sandcrawlers star Wrrlnik Speturra, the prolific scorer from Yakubu’s championship days. Interpreting this reunion as a sign, Yakubu accepted a hastily negotiated contract with the team.

While his initial performances reflected the long absence, Yakubu gradually adapted to the renewed pace and heightened standard of galactic shockball. As the season progressed, both he and the Fighters began to find their rhythm. Despite failing to win any of their opening matches, the Phu Fighters rallied spectacularly, finishing the campaign in 4th place with a record of 12–3–3, securing a spot in the beta‑season playoffs.

Between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs, manager Jensen Odama and owner Bouma Ga'Mon formally named Yakubu Captain of the Phu Fighters, recognizing his leadership, defensive presence, and influence on the resurgent squad.

In the beta-season playoffs, Yakubu captained the Phu Fighters on a historic wildcard run, guiding the club through a 12-team tournament without conceding a single goal. Across two-leg ties, the Fighters defeated the Dxun Basilisks (6–0, 5–0), the Tanaab Titans (3–0, 5–0), the Abbaji Raiders (2–0, 2–0), and the Shownar Shockers (2–0, 2–0) to secure both the conference title and the overall Galactic Shockball Beta Cup.

Yakubu was the only player in the postseason to record statistics in all four positive measured categories, finishing with 3 goals (12th overall), 18 successful passes (13th and team leading), 3 tackles (9th overall and team-leading), and 13 blocks (5th overall and team leading), underlining his all-around impact during the dominant defensive playoff campaign.[2]

Personal Life and Notable Relationships

Yakubu is recorded as partnered, though he has consistently maintained a high degree of privacy regarding his personal affairs.

Fista was formally inducted into the Vir`uan Family as Blood Kin under the Ev'reuin rite of Sanguis Sanguinem Meum—a designation granted to individuals who render great service and are accepted as full members of the family in all but name. His induction followed an incident in which he defended researchers of the Xenvaer Institute during a marauder assault. Among those present was the family’s matriarch, Sia Vir`uan, whose survival and subsequent recognition of Fista’s actions led to his formal bonding with the house.
