Gawayne was a member of SoroSuub Middle Management prior to the creation of the New Republic. His primary responsibility was designing and overseeing the construction of SoroSuub's tax planets. Along with Gojin Zen, Gawayne directed the construction of SoroSuub's first tax planet, Galaryn. After the NR was formed, Gawayne was appointed Minister of Culture. He served as Minister for a little over two years, and under Chief of State Vailis, he was Deputy Chief of State. When the Centre of Republic Intelligence published their list of supposed Shadow Vigos, Gawayne was one of the AC members accused of being a traitor.
