KHUIUMIN (GNS) – Flags were lowered to half mast at the Imperial Sector Capital today to mourn the untimely death of Prefect Doreth DeAmour, a junior bureaucrat in the administrative division of the sector government. DeAmour, who was very popular and well liked among his coworkers in the capital’s file archive, died of vacuum exposure during a routine trip to the Kathol Republic. He was 27 years old.

DeAmour was attempting to board a Kathol Republic cruiser to give a seminar on the intricacies of the Imperial Standard Decimal System, used across the galaxy for the efficient filing of documents ranging from construction permits to womp rat hunting licenses, for the annual convention of the Association of Katholian File Clerks when a defective seal on a boarding tube failed. Emergency workers and Kathol Marshals arrived moments later, but were unable to revive the Prefect despite a valiant effort. The mood was somber when news of DeAmour’s death reached Khuiumin.

“Prefect DeAmour was a respected and trusted member of my staff here in the Elrood Sector,” Moff Jake Kiltar said when reached at a dedication ceremony for a new settlement in the sector, “We will all be saddened by his untimely death. We told him so many times to make sure the light above the airlock turned green before opening the door, but Doreth died as he lived, dangerously.”

DeAmour’s body was intended to be sent home to his family for burial with full military honors, however due to a misplaced identification label at a hospital morgue in Elrood, the cadaver was mistaken for an unidentified body and disposed of. In recompense, the Ministry of Truth provided the DeAmour family with a ceremonial flag to be used at the memorial service along with a framed commemorative portrait of Emperor Bonias.
