Off duty he is usually in dress down slacks or training fatigues.

Personal Vessels

Vulkan has several different ships and vehicles that he uses at his disposal. Mostly used to ferry him accross the stars, they have been used to bring troops for hunting parties back and forth as well.

Void Edge

Vulkan was given a ship by his father early in his youth, barely able to stay in sustained interstellar travel, Vulkan worked and tinkered with this vessel for years. The 578-R Space Transport, Void Edge is Vulkan's first ship. He encountered several hard fought battles and the ship barely survived. Although worth as much as any space junk Vulkan refuses to get rid of it and considers it a huge part of his youth and reminds him of his father.

Flamewrought

After working with the Empire for sometime Vulkan was able to procure his dream ship, a Consular-class Cruiser. Although he plans to have the vessel repainted in his family colors, it currently sports a black and red color scheme of the previous owner.

Early Life

Life on Sakiya

Vulkan was born to Ca-Rlyn and Fhrizen on Sakiya, in an outpost near one of the main Sakiyan jungles, an unknown number of years before the rise of the Empire. Early on he showed signs of being an apt hunter and took to the jungle as a second home. His brother Cole was born years later and became Vulkan's hunting partner and best friend. Together they roamed the jungle looking for challenges that they could learn from, often their father joined them and taught them many skills they still use to this day.

In his early teens Vulkan was made aware of a sacred Sakiyan system of honor, one in which monthrael represented ones personal honor and yithrael mirrored ones family honor. Vulkan took to this code and worked day and night to improve his monthrael. It was after his dedication to the honor code that his father told him of a story, one in which the yithrael of Vulkan's family had been stained for generations. Although the story is somewhat skewed due to the years and years of telling he learned that many years ago his grandfather had done a great injustice to his people. It was determined that the Tovarus's yithrael was stained and could only be repaired by a great feat of magnitudes not seen on Sakiya before. Several generations of Tovarus offspring had attempted to cleanse the family yithrael, all either failing or not meeting the elders acceptance of what could clean the family honor.

Fhrizen Tovarus, Vulkan's father and well respected member of the outpost, had fashioned a plan to hunt the largest creature on their side of Sakiya and present this defeated creature to the elders. He had hoped this would cleanse the bloodline. Both Vulkan and Cole accompanied their father on this hunt, and for the most part it was an uneventful tracking. Finally they had cornered their prey in a cave, Fhrizen described his plan to his sons. At the mouth of the cave they waited for the great beast (later identified as an Aklay), they started a fire to smoke out the creature. Minutes turned to hours and the creature had yet to emerge, Vulkan was getting anxious and decided to go in after the animal. His father was against the action but followed Vulkan in but before they could get into the cave the hulking beast exited, slamming Vulkan against the ground. Fighting with Cole, Fhrizen fiercely defended his son. He faught with teh ferocity that many hadn't seen in a hundred years, chopping several of the beasts legs off he managed to get it off of Vulkan. Kneeling beside his son Fhrizen told him it was over they would restore the families yithrael. Vulkan was badly hurt but apologized for being stubborn and rushing in the cave, but before he could finish his apology the beast lashed out with its remaining strength and stabbed Fhrizen through the chest. Cole instantly beheaded the injured creature but the damage was done, Fhrizen fell lifeless. Cole was able to carry Vulkan out of the jungle, with their fathers body and the head of the beast.

Days past as Vulkan recovered from his wounds, but the time came to meet before the elders and determine if their yithrael had been cleaned. Vulkan and Cole stood before the council, in a dramatic fashion they told their fathers story of heroism and the great feat of defeating the prey they had tracked. The council impressed by the story elevated Fhrizen's monthrael to the highest possible level, but they could not cleanse the family yithrael. They had determined that although the great quest had defeated a great opponent, this had satisfied his personal honor, but Vulken rushing in blazingly had caused his fathers death. This had kept the family honor stained and was to continue until cleansed. Vulken stormed out as he realized that he was the sole reason his family honor was still stained. Cole assured him this would be fixed and at their father's funeral pyre that night Vulkan vowed to right his wrongs and fix the family yithrael if it was the last thing he did.

Vulkan left the next morning and wasn't seen for weeks.

From the Ashes and into the Empire

Vulkan emerged from the jungle weeks after he entered alone. His body bloody and bruised, he carried the scars of his family mentally, and physically he looked as though he hadn't stopped hunting since he entered the jungle. He immediately entered the Elders chambers, throwing his defeated quarries at their feet. Vulkan began to speak before the Elders could respond:

"Many rotations ago my father was killed, murdered, right before my eyes. He passed to the next world believing he had cleansed our family dishonor, he believed our yithrael was pure again. That hope was dashed when we came before you. That ends. I fought through the hunt in the jungle I also battled through my own memories. I battled exhaustion and hunger, every turn in my mind was a block that needed to be shattered. At the end was HOPE, at the end I saw my father's sacrifice was not for nothing, it was for me to use. For me to harness. For me to catapult my self and my family past the non-moving of this council and their outdated beliefs. I come before you, monthrael as high as one can obtain, with a mission. A goal to purge our entire galaxy of injustice, when this has been completed I will return and with my return shall be vengeance. Remember this day, for this is the day you became prey."

Vulkan stood, staring at the council and as one of the members went to speak he turned and exited.

Meeting with his brother and Mother Vulkan informed them of his plan to leave Sakiya and pure the universe of injustice, bringing honor back to his family. Although they tried to talk him out of it, he was unmoved in his decision and departed his homeworld on a ship called the Void Edge. The vessel was barely operational but was able to escape Sakiya without much trouble.

The vessel drifted through space, and although Vulkan kept the Void Edge space worthy for as long as he could it wasn't enough. He had to make an emergency landing on a world not on any starchart he could find, he came to know this planet as Darkness Prime. He was stranded for sometime on this foreign world but as he made repairs he relied on his hunting and survival skills to keep him alive. Venturing out during the day he was able to capture the local animals and collect water. He also was able to modify his armor to help him hunt at night while most animals slept. Nearing the end of his endeavor he found an abandoned out post, an Imperial installation. In this empty structure he found records of the great Galactic Empire bringing hope and prosperity across the stars. His mind race, and that night he had the first good night of sleep he had in many many weeks. His father came to him in his sleep and ensured Vulkan that he had found the answer to cleansing the familys yithrael. Without hesitation Vulkan awoke, and departed the abandoned installation, heading toward his vessel. As he neared the Void Edge he noticed many figures surrounding his ship.

Vulkan slowed his walk to a nearly motionless movement. He assessed the threat, they had yet to notice him returning, taking a deep breath and with the strength of resolve he had received during the night, the Void-Flame of Sakiya, Vulkan Tovarus entered the battle. He struck quick and true, dismembering and maiming the threat. One by one the enemies fell, their cries echoing throughout the night. The trial of Blood, as he would later call it, had ended nearly as quickly as it had began. The flame on Vulkan's armor burned brighter than ever as he stood near the ships entrance and over the would be attackers mangled bodies. He lowered his head saying a few words for the fallen and then entered the ship. He input the coordinates for the nearest Imperial world leaving Darkness Prime, starting his journey to purify his yithrael and rid the galaxy of impurities.
