— Asaaj Starwalk

Childhood

Asaaj was born the bastard child of a young slave, and a vigilante gang member. His mother worked as a dancer in cantinas to etch out a meager existence. From the time he could walk he was involved with crime. He stole from local markets, the spaceports, and smuggled deathsticks. Asaaj had more run ins with the law in his first 7 years than many other sentinents had in their entire lives. He would often get in fighs with other local boys, earning a reputation as one who "took no bantha shit from anyone."

Around the age of 9 the small apartment he and his mother called home caught fire, Asaaj was the only survivor. This would instill a lifelong fear of fire he would carry for the rest of his life. Now alone sleeping in the dusty alleys he fell ever deeper into the world of crime.

Teen Years

Lost Soul

When Asaaj was 14 years old he joined a local swoop gang known as the "Lost souls." Now part of something resembling a family Asaaj felt at home. He was the star of the gang, the best pilot, the best shot, the fastest. He loved this life, the feeling of dominance, the invincibility. He rose through the ranks fast, but he was increasingly at odds with the groups leader. Asaaj wanted more decision making power, to attack bigger targets. He was a risk taker, while the groups longtime leader favored small, easy targets.

Wezzy Sunny

Over the next few years Asaaj saw as new recruits came and went. Some were not cut out for the criminal life. Some dying. Some leaving. One in particular caught his eye. Wezzy Sunny, an itkotch about a year older than him. Asaaj saw much potential in the mysterious man. The two hit it off, becoming partners, and for a time taking Asaaj's mind off of his discontent with the group.

Then Wezzy vanished without a trace. Asaaj returned to his usual ambitious self, his discontent with the group reaching new highs. The Lost Souls were split into two camps. Those loyal to Asaaj, and those loyal to the current leader.

Bleeding Hearts

Finally fed up with the group, Asaaj took those loyal to him and set off on their own. Cristening the group "Bleeding Hearts" Asaaj had his venue to power. Their first order of business was putting the remnants of the Lost Souls out of business. The raid was a massacre, the Lost Souls were no more.

Now Asaaj turned his Bleeding Hearts loose on Tatooine. Quickly rising to become one of the strongest swoop gangs on the planet. The power, the weath, the infamy. This was the life Asaaj strived for. To add to Asaaj's life Wezzy returned to the gang, becoming second in command. Continuing to plunder, continuing to gain notoriety things were going well. Asaaj, however, wanted more. He wanted more than Tatooine could give.

Asaaj and the senior members of the Bleeding Hearts purchased an Aggressor Assault Fighter and set off for Coruscant to make it big.

The Coruscant Years

Upon arriving in Coruscant Asaaj and his bleeding hearts found an entirely different world than the sands of Tatooine. They would have to start fresh, with an entirely new philosophy. The group descended down into the crime ridden lower levels of the city planet. Setting up their operation in an abandoned storefront they carefully observed how crime operated here. After months of observations the Bleeding Hearts were ready to make their move, they brutally murdered the local gang and began asserting their dominance over the population.

Asaaj took a pirate like approach to making money, demanding protection money from freighters looking to use landing pads in their territory. Those who dared refuse lost their cargo, and their lives. Brutally crushing all opposition from other gangs as well as the authorities the Bleeding Heart empire became one of the strongest within a few years. Asaaj was living the good life moving from club to club enjoying the fruits of his deeds, his lust for power assuaged.

He took comfort in the fact that his name was heard in the local news warning citizens to stay away from his turf. He was at the pinnacle of his power, the Bleeding Hearts were living high on the hog. The group which now numbered in the dozens continued to attack still greater targets, going as far as hijacking military convoys, and holding diplomats for ransom. He regarded his group as family, enjoying a close relationship with the only female in the group, and the only person he ever loved.

After years of dominance things were about to come crashing down..

After receiving a tip that a large shipment of weapons were stored in a warehouse the Bleeding Hearts moved in for what they thought would be another easy raid. Upon entering they found the large cache of weapons, they began searching through the crates of weapons. They were preparing to load their haul onto their transports when a thermal bomb detonated, collapsing the building and creating a massive fireball. Asaaj was engulfed in a large fireball, he clawed at his burning flesh, trying to ease the pain. Rival gang members appeared all around the warehouse, cutting anyone down that survived the initial blast. The now unrecognizeable Asaaj began staggering his way towards his Aggressor Assault Fighter when a blaster bolt struck him in his left eye. Writhing in pain he crawled up the boarding ramp, stooping over the controls he set the ship to fly itself back to their headquarters. He then fell unconsious.

Asaaj awoke in the cockpit. His skin felt as though it was stretched over his body, he could barely breathe, he could hardly move. Sitting back in the pilots chair he rigged for high orbit, he had no idea if any of his gang had survived, all he knew was that he had to get off Coruscant before he could receive medical attention.

Going Legit

Asaaj drifted through hyperspace with no destination, drifting in and out of consiousness. He arrived in the production system of Ubrikkian Industries, a vehicle production subsidary of the New Republic. They treated his wounds the best they could. Now in relatively stable condition Asaaj looked at his reflection in the mirror. He remembered what an old friend of his had said. "cripples are useless." The words played over and over in his head. He would never again amount to anything, he could hardly run, and when he did he erupted in coughing from his damaged lungs. He had to prove he still had use, that he was independent.

He was offered a job as a freigher delivering vehicles across the galaxy. Asaaj accepted, hoping it would give his body time to recover enough for him to find a place to settle down. He found his new life boring, week after week of loading and unloading vehicles. He did however discover that Tatooine H'kuk bean tea soothed the pain in his body. He drank it so much that he carried a pouch of the beans, as well as a thermos.

After spending months delivering vehicles he couldn't take the boring, scheduled lifestyle. Asaaj once again boarded The Eternal Night and set out into the unknown.

The Outer Rim

Asaaj now resides somewhere in the outer rim making little noise, he still has ambition for his name to be heard, still with an unquenchable thirst for power. Some say he owns a successful business, others say he's returned to his criminal ways.
