Overview
The one-man Naboo N-1 Starfighter was originally developed by the Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps for the volunteer Royal Naboo Security Forces. Due to the relative poverty of the planet Naboo at the time, combined with the relatively peaceful times they were experiencing, they chose to combine functionality with a sleek look, hoping to impress their neighboring systems. Due to these cutbacks these starfighters are amongst the cheapest production vessels in the galaxy, while remaining arguably one of the most aesthetically pleasing fighter designs. The revolutionary finials projecting from the engines make this fighter easier to handle during atmospheric flight than most ships produced during the same era. However the Nubian Monarc C-4 hyperdrive seems a bit dated at this time.
Role
Due to the relatively low overall weapon loadout, the N-1 fighter is regarded by some as being a sub-par fighter model in recent times. The somewhat less than impressive hyper and sublight speeds also lend to this opinion. However, the fighter carries both anti-fighter as well as anti-capital ship weapons. Thus, the cheap production cost and relative versatility of this fighter lends itself towards being an all-purpose craft. The Proton Torpedo Launcher can be used with great effect against larger vessels, while the twin Heavy Lasers are just as effective against enemy fighters. Although often passed over for heavier armed, more expensive fighters, this ship can occasionally be spotted among the defense fleets of certain planets, or the personal fleets of those who admire this relic of a former era.
