Kael Solan was a Kiffar mercenary from Kiffex who was a prominent leader of Katana Fleet, as well as its precursor, the Invid. He was known to display a distinct lack of emotion, with only rare glimpses of what he was actually feeling. It was even said that he had a tendency for being cruel and intentionally uncaring about others. As well as a reputation for having no major concern for right or wrong, just wanting to get his tasks done and upholding his own form of justice.
He rarely showed any signs of affection or trust towards others in public. Despite this, he was often noted for his unyielding loyalty for his adopted home in the Marasa Nebula, protecting it fiercely.
When observed in combat it was said that his body was nimble with a wiry strength, developed from a hard life. Long fingers adorned his dexterous hands and Kael has been known to display some acrobatic skill and an affinity for great balance. This dexterity has allowed him to hone skills as a marksman with a variety of blasters, although he never attempted to become an expert with these types of weapons. He was also often reported to cover his face in warpaint and conducting himself in a wild and frantic manner in the heat of battle.
Kael was constantly followed by rumours of addiction, drug abuse and mental instability. It could cover anything from taking various narcotics, to collecting works of art and even various antique ships. These addictions often lead him to being self destructive, with his drug abuse requiring constant medical care to reverse the negative effects and his mental instability going untended.
Biography
Early Life
Not much is known about the reserved and sullen Kael. What is known is that he was born to Ianuaria and Atum Solan on the planet of Kiffex. Both his parents were clanless at the time of Kael's birth and often struggled to make a comfortable living, leading a transient life. His mother, Ianuria, found work as a nurse for unlicensed dentists and doctors, while his Father, Atum, held various jobs as a mechanic for ships, vehicles and even droids.
Information about his adolescence is sparse, although he was rumoured to have been a part of a criminal organisation based in the Azurbani system with connections to a variety of underworld practices; including the distribution of narcotics, weapon smuggling and even slavery and political assassination.
Kael's introduction to the galaxy was a signal originating from Kiffex on Year 12 Day 165 in response to a recruitment advertisement sent out by Inya Lestan ahead of the Invid's formation.
Mercenary Career
When he arrived at the staging area for the foundation of the Invid on Year 12 Day 175, he was malnourished and in need of medical attention. After a quick recovery he found himself involved in several major operations, making his way up the ranks and holding various command positions before finding himself in the Conclave, remaining there during the faction's transition to the Katana Fleet.
During his early career he was involved in Operation Norulac, Operation Trammis I, Operation Foh and Operation Titan. In this time he started out as an enlisted mercenary, but he soon impressed his leader, Draith Shadux, and advanced to the position of executive officer in Spectre Squadron. This was soon followed by another promotion to Commanding Officer where he remained until the dissolution of the Invid's squadron structure. In the resulting structure change he took charge of the Invid Legion, as well as being named Military Commander and taking a prestigious position on the Invid's Conclave alongside Draith Shadux and Inya Lestan.
Kael remained in this position during the Invid's transition to the Katana Fleet and its signing of the protectorate treaty with the Trade Federation. He also oversaw the operational running of Operation Terra Firma, Operation Enduring Foundation and Operation Trade Protection. This was in addition to the everday running of Katana Fleet after Draith Shadux's retreat from public life.
It was rumoured that Kael was also trained in the force by the Dark Lord Draith Shadux, although there are no reliable sources to verify this. This was on top of rumoured sightings of Kael Solan in the Denevar system, with speculation that he was strongly linked with the terrorist activity that occurred there in connection with Kramer Inc.
Death
Following the death of Inya Lestan, Kael Solan's behaviour became very erratic and his rumoured drug abuse was said to have spiralled out of control. It was also said that he became increasingly violent and unstable, spending most of his time confined to his Hammerhead Cruiser, "The Onyxia".
On Year 15 Day 3 it was reported that he had died in an explosion deep in the Marasa Nebula. This explosion followed his response to distress signal sent out by Kilian Delmarco aboard the Quasar Fire-class Bulk Cruiser "The Pandalorian" after she came under attack by Noghri marauders.
Despite overcoming the Noghri assault, this victory came at the cost of many lives, including Kael Solan's, as he was said to have sacrificed his own life in defeating the marauders.
