Viyona Teylu, a female Twi'lek born into old wealth from Ryloth, hails from the Teylu clan, a family of wanderers and travellers that had dispersed across the stars during the days of the Old Republic. After returning to Ryloth a millennium ago, her family had rebuilt their fortune and regained their esteem in Twi'lek society. Raised in Kala'uun, Viyona enjoyed what passed for a privileged upbringing on her homeworld and received a diverse education in politics, diplomacy, and economics, while developing a knack for computer operations during her adolescence. Expected to assume a key role in the family consortium, her destiny took a drastic turn at twenty-one, when her family's innate wanderer's spirit inspired her to leave her homeworld and pursue her destiny among the stars.

Biography

Early Life (4 CGT - 25 CGT)

Viyona Teylu was born in 4 CGT on the planet Ryloth in the Gaulus sector of the Outer Rim. She was a scion of the wealthy Teylu clan, a venerable family of Twi'leks that came from what was considered to be noble blood on her homeworld, but which had dispersed either willingly or forcefully across the galaxy as wanderers and travellers generations ago, in the age after their homeworld had been discovered by explorers from the Galactic Republic around 9.000 BCGT. As a result, the Teylu name would periodically resurface throughout the annals of galactic history, with local legends and tales associating them with the Jedi of the Old Republic, the ancient Sith Empire, minor noble houses of the Outer Rim, and even the notoriously brutal worlds of Hutt Space. Yet, shortly after the Ruusan Reformations of about a millennium ago, many members of the Teylu clan had agreed to return to their ancestral homeworld to build a new future together. In the years and centuries after the great homecoming, the clan had built up a new existence and fortune on Ryloth befitting of their status within Twi'lek society, even though the wanderer spirit had always dwelled within many of its clan members throughout the generations.

Viyona grew up in the wealthier parts of the ancient city of Kala’uun, the capital of Ryloth. From a young age, she was tutored by mentors from across the galaxy in politics, galactic history, diplomacy, and the fine art of economics and finance, with the expectation that she would assume a prominent position within the family hierarchy. As a teenager, she developed a knack for manipulating computer technology and learned the tricks of the trade from tech-savvy peers from the streets of Kala’uun, who had become her close friends. When she aged from an idealistic teenager into an adolescent woman resolute in her morals and beliefs, her parents and clan elders expected her to step up and become a part of the family consortium. However, already from a young age, Viyona knew that she yearned for a life beyond the confines of Ryloth and her family's status. While this drew the ire of her clan's leaders who had been grooming her for a role furthering their family's honour and prestige, her parents understood that their daughter - like many among the Teylu kin - was born with a soul untethered to the soil of the Twi'lek homeworld. Thus, at the start of 25 CGT, Viyona bid farewell to her old life and closest kin and departed her homeworld of Ryloth to pursue a destiny among the stars.

Appearance

A female Twi'lek in her early twenties, Viyona embodies the beauty often associated with women of this species. Her youthful and unblemished violet-blue skin tone gives her an enigmatic allure regardless of the crowd she finds herself in. She has grey eyes that often regard others with warmth and understanding. Whether this gaze is a well-practised attempt to win over the most reluctant of friends and the most stubborn of enemies, or a sincere expression of empathy and kinship, remains a mystery to all but Viyona herself. Nonetheless, she carries herself with graceful confidence, befitting a Twi'lek of her status in her people's society.

Standing at 1.74 metres tall, Viyona is of average height for a Twi'lek woman, possessing an endomorphic but slim figure. Her facial features, while softer around the edges, are symmetrical and objectively appealing and attractive by most galactic standards. She is rarely seen without her headpiece, an ornate tiara kept in place on her head by leather straps wound around the base of her lekku. This headpiece has been passed down through the generations and is usually carried within the Teylu family as a mark of adulthood. Her lekku is adorned with self-applied non-permanent markings, the pattern symbolising her belonging to the Teylu family while simultaneously expressing her independence from it.

Regarding her clothing style, Viyona follows galactic fashion trends and is often seen in outfits fashionable in whichever part of the galaxy she finds herself in at the time. However, being a Twi'lek born on Ryloth, her wardrobe also includes attire typically worn by women of her social class in her society. This includes knee-length tunics, sleeveless vests made of high-grade fabrics and materials, as well as more formal attire, which tends to reveal more around the shoulders and stomach.

Personality

Embodying a blend of astute caution and meticulous contemplation, Viyona has been honed by her comprehensive education in politics, diplomacy, and economics. Her decision-making prowess stands as a testament to her thoughtful nature, navigating intricate landscapes with finesse. However, this exacting consideration can at times veer into hesitancy and reluctance, occasionally hindering swift action, as her well-honed caution borders on inertia.

Her adeptness in the realms of negotiation and charm belies an inner conflict. Despite excelling in the intricate dance of diplomacy, Viyona finds little solace in the façade demanded by these fields, and is prone to bouts of melancholy in private as a result. The necessity for pretence in the corridors of power leaves her disenchanted, yearning for authenticity in a realm riddled with artifice and subterfuge, and at times feeling powerless to affect meaningful change within the mannerism and conduct of others despite her otherwise well-formed skills of persuasion.

There exists a dichotomy within Viyona that manifests itself as a delicate interplay between the wanderer's soul ingrained within her Teylu heritage and an unspoken desire for constancy and stability sparked by her innate caution and contemplative nature. Her essence embodies the thrill of exploration, echoing the lineage of a family known for their nomadic spirit. Yet, this thirst for new horizons wrestles with a yearning for steadfastness, fostering a continuous tug-of-war within the centre of her being. Moreover, while she embraces the notion of forging her own destiny and life, an undercurrent of guilt gnaws at her core, a silent lament for leaving behind family ties and the nostalgic pangs for the home she departed.
