| Elas was born on the Defel homeworld [[Af'el]]. Elas was part of a uniqe caste of Defel who chose to live on the planets frozen surface rather than underground like most Defel. The surface residing Defel were viewed with both respect and mistrust, it takes a special breed of person to survive the frozen waste that is [[Af'el's]] surface. Elas spent most of his adolesent life traveling between the Defel settlements, offering his unique skills to anyone who could pay. However early in Elas's adulthood [[Af'el]] began to bore the Defel. Elas's restless nature demanded he leave the planet in search of greater challange.
