Built by the Geonosian Huppla Pasa Tisc Shipwrights Collective, the unique Ginivex-Class Starfighter was a relative obscurity. In keeping with the world's staunch isolationism, the craft's systems were designed with Geonosian physiology in mind, both as a matter of effectiveness and to dissuade others from utilizing the prized "Fanblade" fighters. This fact alone makes the expansive vessel unruly to control for anyone outside the species.
Consisting of a spherical cockpit, with long, reinforced appendages extending out from either end, the fighter's wingspan was impressive. These "wings" served as retractable anchors for a massive solar sail that could be stretched out behind the ship's more substantial segments, providing vastly increased power reserves to its shield generator and other systems. At each tip sat a pair of heavy lasers, which were capable of a limited and independent range of motion atop servos which locked into place. This gave the fighter an unparalleled firing arc for its era, but also allowed two of its cannons to fire even when its wings had been pulled together at its aft, forming a sleek, dagger shape.
While both expensive and hard to control, the Fanblades found a certain cult following. With specialized ion bafflers, their engines' signatures were greatly reduced, allowing it to slip unnoticed into an advantageous position. Its sail also served as an alternative propulsion system, in case of emergencies or extended sorties where refuelling was not an option. Combined with an impressive hyperdrive, many intelligence operatives found these a useful tool. Its large target profile and increased energy signature when in combat mode, however, prevented it from more wide scale use as a strike fighter.
