The Federation Intelligence Bureau (FIB) is the information gathering division of the Ministry of Defense. FIB is charged with providing accurate, evidence-based, comprehensive, and timely foreign intelligence related to national security. Its operatives also conduct counterintelligence activities, special operations, and other functions related to foreign intelligence and national security as directed by the Minister of Defense.
The FIB is a top secret organization that, unlike the Falleen Federation Navy and Falleen Federation Army, a cadet can not just join after graduation from the Ichigo Military Academy. As stated by former FIB director General Sir Sigbjoern Obie, "You do not join FIB. FIB hunts you down."
