As a young boy it is believed that Talak's father was killed when he was very young, which he did not discover until he was older. After his father died mysteriously while serving Mandalore, his mother took him to their homeplanet of Hapan. When Talak reached age 15 he joined the Trade Federation and served in the academy for a whole month without ever being recognized for his prowess. After that month, he filed his resignation and joined Mandalore. He spent less than 2 months in the academy and aced his exam, to join the Mandalore Navy. He started in 2nd fleet but transferred to the 4th fleet. There he served in the Smugglers Guild Campaign, commanding a Bayonet-class Light Cruiser in orbit of Nar Shadaa.
