Built by Xi Char Cathedral Factories, the Scarab is an outdated fighter with optional Droid control, to be flown by a living pilot or a droid brain installed in the ship. With basic laser armaments, modest armour plating and shields combined with its lower manoeuvreability and speed, this light fighter poses little more than a nuisance to most other starfighters. However, its low price combined with its droid pilot ability means that large numbers of these fighters can be employed to overwhelm the enemy fighter defences.
Now ageing and in need of a replacement, this fighter class is relegated to routine low-security checks or sold to backwater systems for their defence forces.
