Jasmine Odan, otherwise known as the Galactic Granny is an eccentric, admirable and charismatic woman who has spent her entire life building up a settlement in Deep Space for travellers and settlers alike. As the Commanding Chief of the Ghosts of Kiffu, her primary goal is to ensure the safety of her people, so rather than settling in any one place, they spend most of their lives in hyper seeking out the furthest reaches of the galaxy where nobody can force them to submit to their control.
Ghosts of Kiffu
For several generations, a band of Unsettled Travellers have called the vast hyperlanes their home. Consisting of eight main families, they called themselves the Ghosts of Kiffu, given that the majority of them originated from the Kiffex system. It would not be until much later when Jasmine took up the mantle of First Lady, that other races besides the humans were welcomed into the fold with open arms. Jasmine changed the rules and the laws of her people, going against everything they had fought for, for generations, but in doing so, she became one of the most influential women of society.
Born in the year -79 on the day of 79, Jasmine was the first of triplets to arrive aboard the old CR-70 known as the "Incandescent", in the middle of a hyperjump between Kiffex and the Northern stretch of the known galaxy, with her brother and younger sister closely following. Twins were common among the Ghosts, but never triplets. It was seen as a prophecy for the Ghosts and they turned the birth into a great spectacle, with celebrations lasting for several rotations.
It was later discovered that the younger two were Force-Sensitive which, for the Ghosts, was unheard of. If word got out of the children harnessing such potential, they knew that there would be issues falling on them from both the Dark Side and the Light Side. In order to keep the settlement safe and undetected, the appointed monarch of the Ghosts decided it was in their best interest to leave the two children in the care of the Kaminoan, and to allow their fates to be decided.
The responsibilities of the Monarch may have come across as cruel and heartless, forcing a mother to give up two of her children, but for the Ghosts it was a necessity to keep themselves hidden... Forgotten... Ghosts. It was their way of life, and they knew from past experiences that those who showed potential in the force attracted too much attention and this was something they could not allow.
The Settlement
In the furthest reaches of Deep Space, there are several abandoned colonies, built from wrecks of old ships long since forgotten about. Several of the makeshift homes were built from old cargo containers and freighters that had been decommissioned for one reason or another. It was nothing special, but wherever they went, the Ghosts would find abandoned wrecks to salvage, settling down for several rotations before taking what they could fit onto their freighters and cargo containers, and abandoning yet another settlement in search of a new place. They loathed the idea of settling in one place, knowing that they had stayed safe for so long being overly cautious about where they stayed. It was rare for anyone other than a small few to take a trip into civilised territory for stock and supplies.
Jasmine, even as a young girl, was usually one of those few allowed to travel. Sometimes having a small child in the group meant that they could pass through the villages and cities far more easily. If trouble arose however, a child causing a distraction was an option they were willing to take, even if it meant the child getting captured or harmed in the process. Fortunately for those cases, Jasmine could handle herself pretty well, and was a keen shot with a rifle.
Squad Leader
Over the years Jasmine proved herself to the monarch and those who doubted her skills, time and time again, and she became notoriously popular amongst the highest ranks of the Ghosts. It was as if nothing could stand in her way. No task was too big or too small, no fight was too much of an issue for her, and when she was finally allowed to fly a fighter, that was when she found her greatest strength. Strategy.
By the age of sixteen she had gained the rank of Squad Leader and with those skills in hand and a clear objective laid out for those who followed her into battle, she never lost a single member in combat. She had a clear vision in mind for every fight she led her squad into, both in space and planet side. Orbital analysis and essential factors were taken into consideration long before she made the call to gear up and move out. She had to make sure that everything was understood and crystal clear before she would even consider taking her squad into battle. One wrong move, she would remind them over and over again, even just a simple wrong move and it's game over for the whole squadron.
