Vyo Regula is a male Twi'lek from the planet of Ryloth in the Gaulus sector. He was born in 1 CGT into a prosperous Twi’lek family of patrician descent, and grew up in comfort in the city of Kala’uun. Yet, already from a young age, Vyo and his family had a problematic relationship which continued to deteriorate as he grew older. In the final months of 23 CGT, these tensions reached a boiling point and he was confronted with an ultimatum, namely to conform or be shunned by his family. Vyo chose the latter and left his homeworld of Ryloth at the age of twenty-three, cutting ties with his kin and former life.

Currently, Vyo is travelling the galaxy as a freelancer in search of employment or a worthy cause to join.

Biography

Early life (1 CGT - 23 CGT)

In 1 CGT, Vyo Regula was born on Ryloth to the Twi’leks Lya Regula and her spouse Yoseph Regula, née Jiresh. The Regula family was a prosperous household which had resided within the city of Kala’uun for many generations, and which stemmed from what is considered among the Twi’lek people to be a patrician bloodline. They occupied a large multi-generational residence in the better part of the city, which had been erected when the Regula family took up residence within Kala’uun several centuries ago. It is here that Vyo and his two years younger sister Maya were raised in comfort, without wanting for anything throughout their childhood.

Yet, already as a young Twi’lek boy, Vyo proved to be different from most of his kin his age. Despite growing up in a relatively prosperous environment, he seemed to be aware of the advantage he was born with, and instead of turning up his nose at the disadvantaged he befriended peers who were less fortunate than he was, much to the disapproval of his family. Their dissatisfaction with the non-conforming Regula scion continued to grow in later years, when as a teenager he started volunteering for relief efforts dedicated to the disadvantaged of Kala’uun, and especially when he began advocating for the plight of the Twi’lek people as an adolescent man. This led to severe tensions between Vyo and the senior members of his family - his parents included - who he frequently accused of keeping the status quo in place so that the clan could preserve their privileged position at the expense of their own people.

In a bid to force the young Regula to conform to the family’s will, his parents and the matriarch of the household negotiated a marriage agreement between Vyo and a daughter of the Giz family, a similarly privileged Twi’lek clan from Kala’uun. Yet, when he was confronted with the decision that had been made without his knowledge or consent, Vyo felt betrayed and assaulted by his own kin. As a result, the tensions that had been rising over the years finally reached a boiling point, and Vyo was met with an ultimatum. Either he would conform to his parents’ and family’s will to marry the Giz scion, or he would be shunned by all of his kin and cast out of the family household. Fully aware of the consequences and ready to face them, Vyo stood his ground and refused, while his clan held true to their word. So it happened that in late 23 CGT, Vyo had cut ties with his kin and former life in Kala’uun, and departed his homeworld of Ryloth at the age of twenty-three.

Personality

Vyo is an intelligent, insightful, and empathetic man. While he was raised in a privileged societal position, he never considered himself better than anyone from a lower social class. Instead, he cares for the plight of the disadvantaged, especially when it comes to the Twi’lek people, and he has been known to support endeavours that alleviate the social injustice that members of his species regularly face, as well as the misfortunes that often befall them.

Yet, while Vyo himself would describe it as holding true to his convictions, he’s a headstrong individual. It is this attitude that led to many tensions between him and his kin, and eventually his banishment from his family’s household. His stubbornness is paired with a sense of idealistic naivety, which does not always result in a favourable outcome for the Twi’lek man, as can be seen from his relations with the Regula clan. On the plus side, his headstrong nature also breeds perseverance and an indominable will to continue until a goal has been satisfactorily achieved.

While Vyo is not an individual who’s interested in the frivolous pursuit of brief romances, he has always considered himself to be a bisexual man. Yet, even though finding a partner or spouse does not appear to be a priority for the Twi’lek man at the moment, Vyo does appear to be in search of new connections and platonic relationships as a result of his isolation from his kin and previous life on Ryloth. It should come as no surprise that despite his charming smile and friendly disposition, Vyo is deeply affected by his family's treatment of him on the inside.

The Regula family has practiced the old Twi'lek faith for countless generations, wherein the goddess Beera - the primary deity according to her followers - was worshipped. As a result, Vyo was raised within this faith as were all members of the Regula clan, and throughout his life his belief in the goddess had provided him with a quiet source of strength.

Appearance

Vyo is a handsome Twi’lek man who is currently in his early twenties. He has a long, thick lekku which often winds around his shoulders, a youthful blue skin complexion, and kind brown eyes. His facial features are proportionate and chiselled, with a strong jawline and high cheekbones.

Standing 1.81 meters tall, Vyo has a relatively average height for a male Twi’lek. He has a well-maintained fit physique and a mesomorph body type. He often carries himself with confidence and good deportment, and usually greets friends and strangers alike with a pleasant disposition. Vyo’s style of dress conforms to the occasion and never fails to deviate from commonly accepted fashion styles in galactic society.
