Mazantsi

Mazantsi is one of The Cardinal Swords of Tau. The sword was forged by the master Noghri Bladesmith Sekou Tau himself and embodies the essence of the south.

Forging

Mazantsi was forged sixth among the Cardinal Swords. Noghri Bladesmith Tau embodied Mazantsi with the essence of the south. The essence of the south is a complex essence. While parts are unknown, the essence of the south contains a mix of soft scents, humidity, and dust. During the forging process, the blade was repeatedly held up to the south wind to capture as much of its essence as possible. This essence of the south gives the blade an added combat advantage. When Mazantsi is swung through the air, it generates a dust cloud, shielding its wielder from view of his opponent. Upon connecting with an object or sentient, it releases water, causing the opponent to have difficulty gripping his weapon. Mazantsi also has the ability to shower dust on an opponent, temporarily blinding them unless they wear some form of eye protection. The forging process for this blade was over a month in length.

Battle-testing and Ownership

Upon the completion of the forging process, the sword is turned over to a Var Kelen high priest. This priest endows it with special Force powers, unique to the Cardinal Swords. Once this was done, an acolyte field tests the weapon, ensuring that it was of sufficient caliber to be sold. Mazantsi underwent scrupulous field testing. The acolyte charged with testing it challenged a D`oemir Bear with cubs. The bear was no match for the blade. Having passed the combat testing, Mazantsi was placed on the market, but not just to anyone. The Cardinal Swords are priced to be for those who understand their true value and will thus put them to good use. Mazantsi was purchased by Shall Ti. As it bonded to his personality, Mazantsi changed color, turning a deep mustard yellow.
