Unit History
The Clone Wars
The 40th Infantry Company first saw action on Ando in Year-25 BGCT under the command of Jedi General Jaska Xushi. Ando had devolved into a civil war after certain political factions on the planet invited the Separatist military to establish a base in the system. General Xushi and her battlegroup were deployed to Ando to reinforce Republic-loyalist forces and prevent the CIS from establishing a foothold. While not an unwise or uncompassionate commander, Xushi's tactics were unrefined and led to much of her force being destroyed in the process. Only one fourth of the unit survived to the end of the battle. However, during the fighting elements of the 40th rescued several prisoners held by the droid forces and helped liberate their compound from Separatist control. Paul Luz and several members of his family were among the rescued.
The 40th was filled out with reinforcements, but Xushi exhibited difficulty in shifting her tactics. Xushi died in a battle on Yitabo along with eighty percent the force under her command. Suspicion arose that some members of the 40th may have executed their commander, but evidence to support the claim was never found and no charges were filed. However, instead of filling out the unit again, command decided to disband the 40th and reassign the surviving soldiers to other units across the galaxy to minimize the risk of potential future insubordination. As such, the unit did not officially survive long enough to see Imperial service.
The Reconstituted 40th
In Year 21, the Ternion Corps began shifting from a veteran's support group to a military outfit. With the assistance of Con Semper and Vir Calder and other researchers and investors, the Corps acquired state of the art cloning equipment and began producing clones with the intention of rebuilding the Grand Army of the Republic and restore the best values of the Republic they once served. Cloning, training, equipping, and housing this new army proved expensive, so the Corps began allowing sympathetic investors to sponsor their own units and receive an honorary commission within the new military force. Paul Luz agreed to raise and sponsor a regiment. The first unit Luz commissioned was the 40th, in honor of the clones he credits with saving his life and those of his family. The reconstituted 40th Infantry wears armor emblazoned with red markings, as did their predecessors. The markings were believed to signify the blood their unit often spilled under Jedi General Xushi's command. While supported and funded by Colonel Luz, the 40th serves under the 105th Expeditionary Force, and under the ultimte command of Commander Con Semper. Several diverse squadrons make up the company, including regular infantry clones, snipers, a dedicated anti-droid team, and heavy weapons specialists.
Company Roster and Chain of Command
Major Double Semper
Major Double Semper is a Ternion-born clone soldier from the second birthing. He was recommended for additional officer training by instructors in Ternion's training program, and soon proved himself an innovative and adaptable commander. Under the leadership of major Semper, the 40th has grown from a standard infantry unit to a multifaceted company capable of taking on any mission profile. Originally designated CT-56092, he took the name Double Semper for himself in honor of Commander Con Semper, whom he admires and hopes to emulate on the battlefield.
