Description
Kintan is a cold planet in the Si`Klaata Cluster of Hutt Space, notorious for being the homeworld of the Nikto species. Eons ago, the Cluster was bathed in radiation from a far away star, M'dweshuu. This provoked alterations of the Kintan's ecosystem and life on the planet changed forever. The native species suffered mutations and different populations of the same race, separated only by geographical features, evolved along dissimilar branches. Thus, the Niktos are a primary example of geographical evolution.[1][2]
The Wannschok, or "Endless Wastes", is a desert in the eastern part of Kintan that saw the emergence of the Red Nikto. This arid region was once covered in lush forests, but now, only scorched wood and some enduring shrubs can be found among the many caves and lava rivers.[1]
The Gluss'elta archipelago in the equatorial ocean of Kintan (located east of the Wannschok) is home of the Pale Nikto. The inlets in this non-salty ocean have a tropical climate and plains with lush and blossoming vegetation.
At the other side of the Gluss'elta Sea, the Green Nikto evolved on the extensive prairies. The climate is gentler, and water is abundant since the grasslands are crossed by rivers that come down from the northern glaciers, through the mountainous region, and pour their water into the ocean. The Mountain Nikto evolved among these northern peaks, where air is thin and temperature descends dramatically during night.[1]
The Southern Nikto evolved at the southern pole of Kintan, which is covered in desolate glaciers. The vast southern mountain range and the Canyon of Despair (a desert valley south of the grasslands) proved formidable obstacles for the Southern Nikto and, being unable to migrate to warmer climates, they were forced to adapt to the harsh conditions and the barren terrain.[1]
Isle of Sin
The Isle of Sin is centrally located on the planet of Kintan. The island is home to the Gluss`sa`Nikto and the archipelago in the equatorial ocean of Kintan serves as welcome home to smugglers, pirates and bounty hunters.[3]
It is the home of several local Hutt overlords that allow for plenteous amount of debauchery, death, destruction and copious amounts of ryll to be enjoyed. Local Nikto are most often called up and forced into extravagant battles against a myriad of creatures that the Hutt's procure for their amusement. There are several rumours of a personal pet Rancor that consumed several Nikto in one fight, before being killed when something it ate didn't agree with it and cut its way out.[citation needed]
Wannschok
The Wannschok is a hot, rocky desert on the surface of Kintan. It is home to the Kajain'sa'Nikto, or "Red Nikto". The word Wannschok, translated to Galactic Basic, means Endless Wastes.[4]
Once, the Wannschok was covered with beautiful vegetation. Eventually, however, the Endless Wastes were completely desertified and dried by the sun. Only dried wood from the old forests which once stood there is left, though a few plants managed to adapt to the extreme heat. The Endless Wastes is also known to have many large cave structures within their dangerous and jagged mountains and lava rivers (or Rivers of Fire as the natives called them) flowing freely throughout the Wastes.[4]
These lava rivers could reach temperatures of up to 1000 C and the ground there is marked by black and hard soil.[5]
