Alpha-79 "Kestrel" is a veteran ARC trooper from the Clone Wars who, after being cryogenically frozen during the chaos of Operation: Knightfall, awoke 48 years later to serve the Blue Star Dominion under his former instructor, Tomas O`Cuinn seeking purpose in a galaxy very different from the one he left behind.

Early Years

Alpha-79, designated “Kestrel,” was one of the Republic’s ARC troopers bred and trained on Kamino for elite operations during the Clone Wars. Genetically altered and bred for independence and critical thinking, Kestrel was shaped by the rigorous ARC program under the supervision of veteran Cuy'val Dar instructors, including Sergeant Tomas O`Cuinn. O`Cuinn’s training emphasized not only combat efficiency but a strong sense of duty, as well as education in Mandalorian customs and traditions, believing that the clones under his tutelage deserved to understand their heritage, the genetic template for the Grand Army being a prominent Mandalorian

During the war, Kestrel served with distinction on multiple Outer Rim fronts, specializing in sabotage, reconnaissance, and surgical strikes. His reputation wasn’t one of glory-seeking bravado but of calculated precision and brutal efficiency. He led small squads behind enemy lines on worlds like Saleucami and Christophis, neutralizing strategic targets and disrupting Separatist command structures. While some clones sought meaning or camaraderie, Kestrel functioned as a tool of war—sharp, quiet, and effective.

Though he earned respect from fellow troopers and Jedi alike, Kestrel remained distant, viewing his purpose as singular: to end the war, no matter the moral cost. As the war dragged on and casualties mounted, he grew increasingly disillusioned, seeing victory not as a matter of righteousness, but of endurance and execution.

Operation: Knightfall

Kestrel was stationed on a mid-Rim world when Order 66 was issued. Like all clones, the command triggered deeply embedded conditioning—but something made him hesitate. His Jedi commander, sensing betrayal, struck first, cutting down several of Kestrel’s squadmates in a desperate bid for survival. Wounded and stunned, Kestrel reacted instinctively, gunning down the Jedi and securing the perimeter with grim resolve, but not before himself suffering a critical injury caused by the fall of the Jedi's lightsaber.

Critically injured, he was evacuated to a medical outpost in orbit. With Republic assets stretched thin and battlefield triage a priority, a sympathetic nonclone medic made a split-second decision: to place him in cryostasis until proper treatment could be arranged.

But the Republic he fought for died before that day ever came. Kestrel remained in stasis, forgotten in a sealed medical bay aboard a derelict frigate drifting through the stars—his war frozen in time.

Recent Events

Forty-eight years later, Kestrel was discovered and revived by the Ternion Corps, a democratic, clone-led faction rooted in the ideals of the fallen Galactic Republic. Confused and alienated by the vastly changed galaxy, Kestrel struggled to reconcile his past with the new reality. The Republic was twice gone, the Jedi a shadow of their wartime strength, and the Galactic Empire—the former Republic—exposed for their tyranny. Ternion provided assistance, including a new identity, Isoldor Toth, to help Kestrel adjust to life in the new galaxy.

Amid this upheaval, Kestrel learned that his former instructor, Tomas O`Cuinn, now led a growing sovereign state: the Blue Star Dominion. Drawn by the only remaining anchor from his past and seeking new purpose in a galaxy without clarity, Kestrel pledged his service to the Dominion.

Though his skills remain sharp, he is no longer the soldier bred to follow blindly. Haunted by the memory of the Jedi he killed—and the comrades he lost—Kestrel now serves as a specialist and field officer within the Dominion, offering his experience in defense of something he hopes can be built, rather than destroyed. He remains wary, pragmatic, and driven—but for the first time, not by orders.
