Kavam
Kavam is a major chemical contributor to bacta[1]. When combined with alazhi, a bacteria farmed from the xoorzi fungus[2], the two create a potent healing solution able to mend even the most dire of injuries in hours instead of days or even weeks. Unlike its counterpart, kavam is technically not found in the wild. This is because kavam is the term describing a whole series of chemicals that react with each other and with alazhi to form the powerful healing substance. Each component of kavam is produced in massive bacta synthesizing laboratories and stored there until needed.
History
The formula for kavam came both from years of trial and error as well as the very biology of the bacta-producing race of insectoids called the Vratix. Native to Thyferra, these sentient quadrupeds actually excrete all the necessary chemicals to make kavam[1]. These excretions, however, are not nearly as potent as the kavam produced in laboratories across the galaxy. Years of additional research has improved upon the base concoction to produce superior bacta. Recently, however, medical scientists have been unable to improve the quality of their synthetic kavam any more. That said, any up-to-date bacta synthesis plant will be producing kavam of the exact same chemical construction.
