Kraa`gor Jhal is a Barabel bounty hunter, mercenary, pirate, and Force-sensitive underworld figure who rose to become Daimyo (leader) of the Zann Consortium, and following that, Captain (leader) of the Blackstar Pirate Republic.
Born into captivity within the Outer Rim slave trade, Jhal’s life has been marked by brutality, survival, and eventual liberation. His career has blended raw Barabel ferocity with latent Force abilities, earning him a reputation as one of the underworld's most feared crime bosses.
Biography
Early Life
Kraa`gor Jhal was born into captivity, rather than among the clans of his homeworld, Barab I. His parents were captured by slavers and sold into a prison-station hidden in the Outer Rim. Raised without kin, Jhal’s formative years consisted of harsh treatment, pit fighting, and indoctrination into the violent culture of his captors.
Witness accounts from fellow captives described him as unusually perceptive and difficult to restrain. Reports of restraints breaking and guards succumbing to his rage gave rise to early rumors of Force sensitivity, though Jhal received no formal training at the time.
Imprisonment and Reputation
Within the prison-station, Jhal earned notoriety as both a survivor and a killer. He endured repeated attempts to break him through labor and punishment, but his resilience and ferocity elevated him above other captives. By adolescence, he had become a feared figure among both prisoners and guards.
Whispers spread that Jhal possessed an “aura of dread,” able to sense weakness and exploit it. These traits, later understood as signs of latent Force ability, ensured that his captors treated him as both an asset and a liability.
Liberation by the Zann Consortium
Jhal’s captivity ended when the Zann Consortium, under the command of Ximaro Jix, launched a raid on the slaver stronghold. During the assault, Jhal broke free from his restraints and turned on his captors, killing multiple guards with his claws and improvised weapons.
Ximaro, impressed by Jhal’s ferocity and defiance, personally recruited him into the Consortium. Rather than viewing Jhal as a tool, Jix treated him as a kindred spirit forged by violence. This bond marked the beginning of Jhal’s ascent within the organization.
Career in the Consortium
Initially serving as an enforcer and raider, Jhal quickly distinguished himself in piracy, intimidation, and combat. His knowledge of rival criminal networks made him a valuable asset in dismantling Zann's enemies.
Over time, Jhal’s reputation for loyalty and strength elevated him to the position of Daimyo, making him the Consortium’s leader. In this role, he commanded fleets, coordinated raids, and also acted as a Spymaster, planning and leading clandestine operations.
The Rise of Blackstar
Shortly after ascending to leader of the Zann Consortium, Kraa`gor folded the entire syndicate's operations and assets into the Blackstar Pirate Republic, which he now leads as Captain. It is said that the Republic was founded to culminate the achievements of Zann. Their war on the galaxy was over, and a golden age of piracy was to begin.
