The waters of Mon Cala were still and serene the day that Nohayk Haddock was born into the world. A Quarren by birth but Mon Calamari in spirit, the young Quarren would devote his life to the pursuit of peace for the troubled peoples of his home planet.

=== Childhood ===

Huw Roon was born to wealthy kel dor aristocrats Vernon and Mim Roon in the city of Dor’shan on his homeworld, Dorin. A reserved but outgoing child, Huw had no difficulty making friends and getting into the kind of trouble that one would expect from a young kel dor. His father Vernon, a well-known and respected scientist, Huw could often be found flitting about his father’s laboratory and playing about his legs while he was conducting the various experiments and research that Vernon was known for. Huw would often spend hours in that laboratory drawing the myriad array of creatures that his father would house and study there. These years were later found to be formative ones for young Huw: as an adult, he would study medicine and eventually become a respected doctor and surgeon in his own right.
Troubled by Civil War, the Mon Calamari and the Quarren were separated by a rivalry exacerbated by the vast differences in their cultures: The Mon Calamari were more technologically advanced and favored peace and diplomacy whereas the Quarren were a barbaric, primitive and warrior-like race, favoring action to diplomacy. These differences in culture made peace seem to be nothing more than a fool’s dream to some, but Nohayk, despite being but eight years old, held on to the idea that one day his home world would become a bastion of peace for all and a symbol of hope for other planets struggling across the galaxy.

When Huw was eight years old, his father Vernon left his family on Dorin to head for deep space in order to conduct research for a highly classified experimental project known only to himself.

Vernon Roon did not return.
It was during the latter part of this conflict that the violence escalated between the two races and the Quarren turned to the utilization of children as soldiers to bolster their ranks, Nohayk among them. Issued a pike and forced to fight, Nohayk chose to abstain from combat as much as possible, instead favoring pacifism. Fortunately for him, he was assigned as an assistant to a battlefield medic, Krish Makkid. Together they would scour the various aquatic battlefields in search of the wounded to administer their care. Nohayk spent the next two years with Krish while bearing witness to the horrors of war which served only to further solidify his peaceful nature.

His father’s disappearance, while hard on the entire family, proved to be particularly difficult for Huw. Over the next several years, he struggled to find a sense of purpose and reasoning behind his father’s sudden disappearance. It was a struggle that would continue to plague him into adulthood.
The years progressed, as they are want to do, and Huw found himself to be a man. Being the progeny of a famed scientist and coming from a family of wealth and notoriety, it was not difficult for him to gain admission to the most respected universities to study medicine. Having completed his studies, Huw began to work at his Uncle’s practice in his home city of Dor’shan, and at his mother’s suggestion, began to train other students of medicine.

=== Discovery ===
During a particularly heated battle, Nohayk and Krish were assigned to a unit that became separated from the main offensive force and after days of fighting, Nohayk found himself a prisoner of war, along with the other children soldiers that had been captured during the confrontation. A peaceful people, the Mon Calamari chose to educate the children in the ways of peace and intellect as opposed to killing them. The Mon Calamari King felt that if the children could be educated and civilized and subsequently returned to their people, that perhaps they could spread their knowledge and gain the trust of Quarren.

One evening, after a particularly difficult day at the clinic, Huw returned to his apartment to seek shelter from the outside world and to relax with a glass of Alderaanian Brandy that belonged to his father. As he opened the bottle to pour himself a glass, the fragrance of the sweet brandy began to fill the room and Huw began to think on him. After his father’s disappearance, his mother gave him a chest full of Vernon’s personal effects, which now occupied an area up against the wall near his art desk. For many years the chest had gone relatively unnoticed by Huw, but that night, still sipping on the brandy with thoughts of his father filling his head, he approached the chest and gently began to lift the lid.Inside the chest, Huw found several different items: a long dead holopad, various handheld scientific instruments and, at the very bottom of the chest, an old white lab coat.

It was this white lab coat, still bearing the ident card belonging to his father, that would change Huw’s life forever.
For the next six years Nohayk and the others attended rigorous reeducation programs: they studied science, mathematics, biology, engineering, philosophy and art. Nohayk’s natural ability quickly became apparent to his instructors whereupon the intensity of his training increased. He was taught by the greatest minds that the Mon Calamari had to offer at the most prestigious universities in Mon Cala City.

He gently lifted the musky white folds out of the chest and sat his brandy down on the art desk. As he stared at the lab coat, he remembered tugging at the tail attempting to draw his father away from his work in favor of a game or some other fun.

Huw put the lab coat on and looked at himself in the mirror, his hands plunged deep into the pockets.
Then the day came that the war came to an end. The children, now young men and women, were returned to the Quarren people for reintegration into their own society in hopes that they would foster a union of peace between the two peoples. The Quarren, however, met them with suspicion and distrust, and only after much debate allowed them to return.

That was when he made the discovery.

Inside the pocket, he found a small datadisk, weathered and aged from years of abuse. He flipped it over in the palm of his hand and saw it labelled with one word:
In the following months, the Returned as they came to be known, made great efforts to share their newfound knowledge with the elders of the Quarren tribes. Their enthusiasm was short lived, however, as those in positions of power amongst the elders endeavored to cling to the old ways. Soon after, the Returned began to be treated as if they weren’t Quarren at all, but were themselves Mon Calamari. Some of the returned chose to abandon the pursuit of peace and petitioned to return to Mon Cala City to leave their woes behind them. Nohayk, honorable in his noble pursuit, stood steadfast against the torment and refused to leave his people.
“Impetus”.

Huw, still wearing the lab coat, urgently grabbed his holopad and sat down and loaded the datadisk. A recording of Vernon Roon’s voice began to fill the room. Huw was startled as it had been years since he heard that voice, but focused intently on his father’s words:

...I think I have it all wrong... how could I have been so blind? I have spent YEARS looking at this all wrong! I will contact Dr. Raddius immediately. I think he can point me in the right direction...
Chief among his adversaries, Nohayk’s own father took up arms against him. A well-known war hero and veteran of many battles with the Mon Calamari, Sqor Haddock took to public forum to denounce the teachings of his enlightened offspring.

The recording ended as abruptly as it began. Upon closer inspection, the datadisk had been damaged from what appeared to have been a rather haphazard attempt at wiping it and no other data was able to be retrieved.

Huw spent the next several days obsessing of the recording. He listened to it again and again, hoping to glean some other information that was not immediately apparent, but to no avail. It was then that Huw decided to take the next logical step and locate this Dr. Raddius, and, after a lengthy search, he was able to discern that Raddius was a citizen of the New Republic and that he disappeared about the same time as his father.
It was at this point that Nohayk appealed to the Mon Calamari for guidance as to how to quiet the rising tension and alleviate another war. The Mon Calamari suggested the assembly of a joint council made of equal representations of both races to act as the ruling body of Mon Cala. Upon bringing this proposal to the Quarren elders, Nohayk possessed a renewed faith in his people as they eagerly accepted the conditions of the agreement. This renewal in faith was fleeting, as the Quarren rebuked the idea of a democratic selection process for the council members and instead chose to seat the elders already in power. Adding further insult to injury, Nohayk’s own father and philosophical adversary was chosen to lead the Quarren delegation and was awarded a seat at the head of the council.

=== A New Life ===

With the reluctant blessings of his family, Huw Roon left his Uncle’s practice and joined the New Republic. He figured that if he was ever going to get to the bottom of whatever “Impetus” turned out to be, that he was going to need the help of someone within the Republic and maybe, someone there would know something about his father and Dr. Raddius.
The first order of business of the Quarren delegation was to preserve the way of the Quarren people. It was quickly decided that Nohayk Haddock was a threat to their ways and was traitor to the Quarren tribes. However, being the son of a war hero, his execution or exile was out of the question as it would bring dishonor to the Haddock name. It was decided then, under the pretenses of a necessity for greater representation in the galaxy, that Nohayk Haddock would be sent to the New Republic and given the instruction not to return until he had secured a seat in the senate of the New Republic and restored honor to his name. The penalty for returning without having completed this task was death.

Upon graduating the Academy, which was no difficult task for him, Huw decided to put his skills to use and joined RepMed. He felt that before he began asking a lot of questions, that it would be prudent to take some time to get adjusted to his new home and his new life within the NR.

After some days of shipping RM for RepMed, Huw decided investigate the local cantina. Uncertain of what to expect, Huw opened the cantina door and took a seat at the bar; he usually didn't fit in the cramped booths (due to the lack of space for his legs). As a new member to RepMed he had yet to make any friends, so he ordered some Jawa juice and opted to take in his surroundings. After a while he began to realize that he liked this place and could see himself spending a lot of time here, letting the stress of his day to day activities fall away from his shoulders.
Leaving behind his people, Nohayk boarded a starship and headed for Republica, anxiously awaiting what he would find there.

It was once a little dream he and his cousin used to share: They would open a bar in Dor'shan and everyone who was someone would come to their little hole in the wall to enjoy the atmosphere and good company that they would find there with the two gentle hosts. At that point in time, Huw was almost prepared to put the search for “Impetus” aside just to own his own little bar...

However, that was a long time ago and now he had left his family on Dorin. Huw felt a deep sorrow thinking of his old life and produced a sketch that his father had drawn for him when Huw was a child. He and his father loved drawing. It gave them peace. So, looking for a bit of peace, Huw took out a pen and began sketching his surroundings on the back of the paper and slowly eased his mind as he drew line after line, the word “Impetus” swirling around in is mind….
With his death coming to an abrupt end on Y19 D38 by a known criminal [[Kuga Morguul]], Nohayk's mission remained unaccomplished...

Being a doctor, Huw had considerable skill in medicine. Though some high-end doctors did not see him as one of the best, it was his creativity in medical matters that gave him his reputation of an adequate doctor. His calm though still amiable nature had often been called " a plus on his otherwise 'unorthodox' thinking" by his more professional colleagues.
